The Bergerons were early pioneers of the smallbatch coffee movement and started Cartersville Coffee Company to help support their local agricultural economy. In 1992, the Bergersons passed away, but their legacy lives on through the continued production of high-quality small batch coffee products by their children, Tim and JenBergeron. Today, there are several small batch coffee shops throughout Cartersville with a variety of roasts and methods of brewing. Some of these shops offer tastings along with individual packaged pour-overs or canned or bagged coffee. The Cartersville Caverns are open to the public from 9am to 4pm daily during summer months; 9am to 3pm during winter months. Admission is free for adults; $5 for children ages 6-12; $3 for seniors age 65 or older. There is a concessions stand where refreshments can be purchased. A gift shop provides items related to locally made history and culture. There are also several exhibits inside the Caverns as well as on site attractions such as a petting zoo, manmade waterfall, visitor center,and restaurant/cafeteria/bar/.

This treaty resulted in the cession of 1/3 of Cherokee land to England. The Cartersville area became part of this land grant and was known as East Georgia. In 1802, John Carr (1770-1851) purchased 640 acres from the Creek Nation in what is now Cartersville. Carr built a small cabin on his property and named it Carr’s Station after himself and his father, Richard Carr Sr. The first school in Cartersville was established on Carr’s Station in 1814. In 1825, Daniel Boone (1775-1847) discovered a natural gas field near present-day Clermont County and began drilling rigs overhangings on his farm at Great Smoky Mountains National Park northwest of Cartersville. This led to increased economic development around Cartersville includingthe founding of a phosphate mine in 1908 by Wacoal Powell & Son and production started that year. Wacoal Powell also founded Little Rock Business College which operated until 1969). During World War II, Cartersville became an important production site for munitions manufacture due to its location at Roanoke Island where naval aviation took place during Operation Neptune’s Spear (1949). A large Army Ammunition Plant was also located here before it closed in 1984; however, portions have been preserved as part of Roanoke Island State Park which offers visitors opportunities for hiking, fishing, bird watching, picnicking and more.

Cartersville was founded in 1821 by Colonel Robert E. Carter, who came from a distinguished family of Georgia landowning families. In 1828, the county seat moved to Cartersville from Dahlonega and remained there until it was replaced by Macon in 1911. The town of Cartersville prospered during the early years of the 20th century as a manufacturing center for cotton and other products. The town's population peaked at around 2700 in 1920, but declined rapidly after World War I because of the impact of the war on agriculture. However, many industrial companies relocated to Cartersville during the postwar period, including IBM and Coca-Cola. The population has slowly recovered since 2000, reaching about 10300 today
