There is a long and varied coffee history in Cartersville, Georgia. Coffee was first grown and roasted here in the 1800s by African Americans who were working on plantations. In the 1930s, coffee beans were brought over to Cartersville from Louisiana by veteran military servicemen stationed here. The town's current coffee industry began when local farmers started marketing their beans directly to consumers in the early 1990s.
Cartersville is a small town in Georgia that is located about 30 miles east of Atlanta. The population was 5,828 at the 2010 census. It lies on the Tocoma–Griffin county line. According to the United States Census Bureau, the town has a total area of 2 square miles (6 km²). The name "Cartersville" derives from James Carters, an early settler and one of the founders of what is nowAtlanta. Other early settlers in this location included John Ford and his brother James who came in 1802. In 1811, Nathan Bedford Forrest moved his family to Cartersville from Decatur County, Alabama. He had been expelled from the Confederate army and wanted to start a new life as a farmer in Georgia after being pardoned by President Jefferson Davis. There were other families moving into this area as well during these years such as General Andrew Johnson's family which settled around 1820. The first post office was established in 1827 and operated under the name "Moses". It was renamed "Cartersville" in 1830 after John Carters, another early settler and promoter of cotton farming hereabouts-an act that further distinguished this community from adjoiningDecatur County communities with similar names (e.g., Marilla). The first store built hereabouts was called simply "Store", which continued operation until1853 when it became known asthe Cumberland Store Company. In 1861 local doctor David Gadsden foundedGadsden Hospital hereabouts with additions to its present campus includinga two-story frame building on Main Street that still stands today . After Union victory over Confederate forces at Appomattox Court House on April 9th 1865, all churches except for Gadsden hospital closed their doors throughout much of south central Georgia due to pro-Union sentiment prevailing at this time especially among farmers who depended upon trade with Confederates for their livelihoods; however Gadsden Hospital remained open until almost 100 years later! This event also helped establish Cartersville as an important center for cotton production hereabouts through out much of 20th century! It wasn't until 1907 when automobiles began arriving in these parts of Georgia that shopping centers sprang up all along main streets like Center Road near modern day Grady High School; primary businesses surrounding these locations changed hands frequently becoming auto dealerships before eventually closing down or going out of business altogether over time – some having been converted into apartments or other residential uses while others have sat vacant ever since! For many residents coming off farm workdays traffic tiered ramps led directly to small malls like Mall Of America just feet away providing additional shopping opportunities right outside their door! Today most residents continue living close to home enjoying easy access both grocery stores and large retailers alike making it one of North Fulton's most vibrant towns center

Cartersville is a town in Muscogee County, Georgia, United States. The population was 1,814 at the 2010 census. It is the county seat of Muscogee County. Cartersville was founded in 1802 by John and Martha Carr. The town was named for George WashingtonCarter. The first post office in Cartersville was established in 1802 and the first store opened in 1807. In 1827, General James Kenedy moved his army from Marietta to Cartersville to winter before he invaded Alabama. After the Battle of Flint River Bridge on February 17,1828, General Kenedy ordered his army to retreat back to Chattanooga because of poor health (he had been shot through the head). In 1865, Confederate general Robert Ewell called upon General Nathan Bedford Forrest for help planning an attack on Atlanta; however, Forrest refused because he did not want any blood shed near his home city of Richmond Virginia. On April 14th 1865 Confederate forces under General Jubal Early attacked Union Fort Gibson near present-day Carthage Lake while most of Forrest's forces were besieging Mobile Alabama; only about 10% of his men actually participated in this attack due to disease or desertion (some say as many as 50%). As a result of this attack Union casualties numbered 673 with over two thousand killed and wounded including Major General Ulysses S. Grant who later became president Ulysses S. Grant III Cartersville has seen some interesting events throughout its history such as: The first Baptist church was built here on May 16th 1840 by Revs Fenton and Phillips (the original congregation also served as carpenters) when there were just 9 houses in town . Reverend Fenton preached at nearby White Settlement until 1830 when he moved to Chatham County . Baptism records show that Rev J B Hardwick officiated from 1840-1848 . A schoolhouse/church building stood here until destroyed by fire on October 15th 1889 . First Methodist services were held here on November 3rd 1850 by Elder Greenleaf with Rev W T Swain officiating . A new Methodist church was built south of current day Clairton Road between 1921-1925 it housed churches from Muscogee County as well as Decatur and Chickamauga counties which brought much needed community close together A smallpox epidemic hit Chattahoochee Valley early 1800’s devastating plantations & villages Thereportedly close contact kept chattahoochee River clean during this time too!*We have several photos taken around 1900 especially around Carrolltown Swamp where people usedto fished alligator meat that they dried then stored away
The area now known as Cartersville, Georgia was first settled in the late 1700s by English settlers. The town was founded on the southeast bank of the Chattahoochee River, about 20 miles northeast of Atlanta. By 1800, Cartersville had a population of around 100 people. In 1822, the town was renamed Athens after the city in Greece. In 1881, Athens became one of the original 11 townships within what would become Atlanta County. In 1912, Cartersville became a city and remained so until 1959 when it reverted back to its original name.
