The first coffee shop in Carrollton was opened in 1978 by Jerry and Lynn Geyer. The couple started the business out of their home, and it quickly became a well-known stop for coffee lovers throughout the city. In addition to its classic espresso drinks, the shop also served light snacks and pastries such as donuts and bagels. In 1990, the Geyers relocated their business to a larger space on Woodward Street in downtown Carrollton. The new location allowed them to offer more variety of menu items, as well as more spacious seating options. The store continued to be popular among locals and visitors alike, and it has remained an important part of the city’s cultural landscape ever since.

Carrollton was founded in 1836 by General Andrew Jackson, who named it for his personal physician, Dr. Carroll. The community grew rapidly due to the success of its cotton plantations and the influx of slaves. By 1860, Carrollton had a population of over 10,000 people and was one of Georgia's most important towns. The town experienced a series of tragedies during the Civil War: on April 12, 1865, Confederate soldiers killed nine local women and children while they were playing outside; two weeks later, Union soldiers burned down the town hall; and finally, on July 4th, 1865, Confederate General Robert E. Lee surrendered at Appomattox Court House. After the war ended, Carrollton slowly began to decline as its economy declined and its citizens lost their jobs. However, some notable individuals from this time include Mayor John Witherspoon (1868-1912), who is credited with creating what is now known as "The Town Green"; doctor J.D. Salinger (1922-2009), who wrote The Catcher in the Rye; and entrepreneur Larry Ellison (1972-present). In recent years, though businesses have not thrived as much as they once did or there has been little development lately due to economic conditions in Georgia overall,[1] Carrollton has seen a resurgence in culture thanks to several small businesses that have been started up within the last few years that are starting locals back up again[2],[3]. Carrollton was founded in 1802 by John Carroll, the son of a Welsh immigrant. The town grew rapidly due to its location on the Chattahoochee River and its access to shipping and transportation. In 1834, Carrollton became the capital of Georgia.
