The Carrollton Army Depot, better known as the Army Base and was founded in 1913. It served as a storage and distribution center for artillery ammunition and other military material until 1951. The depot also housed the United States Military Academy at West Point from 1881-1885 and then again from 1887-1905. In 1954, the base was closed to active duty due to budget cuts and it reopened as an arms dealership. However, in 1984, it was closed again when the base was transferred to the Department of Defense's Joint Forces Command. As of 2016, it is still used by the Georgia National Guard for storage purposes only. The Army Base played an important role in Carrollton's history because it served as a staging ground for military campaigns such as World War II, Korea, Vietnam and Desert Storm. The depot also housed other units such as tanks and artillery that were used in these campaigns. Additionally, during World War II there were also experiments conducted at thebase which helped develop new weaponry like jet aircrafts and missiles. Today, remnants of these past events can be found throughoutthebase including exhibits about artillery ammunition manufacturing process or old cannons that are still stored inside the arsenal today!

Carrollton is a city in Fulton County, Georgia, United States. The population was 26,693 at the 2010 census. It is the county seat of Fulton County and had a population of 27,569 as of 2018. Carrollton was founded by General James Dunlap on October 3, 1821 as Dunlap's Station on the Chattahoochee River. The original town consisted of only a few log homes and barns. A post office called Dunlap's Station was established in 1826, and the name changed to Carrollton in 1828 when General Andrew Jackson became President. In 1830, cotton plantations were completed in what is now Carrollton and began to produce large quantities of cotton for export. Prices for raw cotton were high enough that many Southern farmers turned to agriculture instead of manufacturing because they could not afford to pay for importation of raw materials. Cotton production continued until 1865 when it peaked with over two million pounds produced; however, during this time period milling also increased rapidly due to new technology and an influx of new immigrants from Ohio and other states who participated in the American Civil War (1861-1865).
