The history of gourmet coffee in Buford, Georgia begins with the first coffeehouses in the town in 1876. The first coffeehouse was called The Gilded Cage and served roasts from $1.50 to $2.00 per cup. This early incarnation of the business was started by a man named John Fenton and his wife, Nancy Fenton. They opened their first shop on Courthouse Square and later moved to 4th Street between Peachtree and Sandy Streets. In 1916, they added a second floor to their business and changed their name to The Gourmet Coffee House Incorporated. In 1924, Mrs. Fenton passed away and John Fenton continued operations as the sole owner of The Gourmet Coffee House Incorporated until his death in 1951. After Mr. Fenton’s death, his wife took over management of the business until her own death in 1961. From 1961 until 1984, Mrs. Barbara Rankin ran the business as its manager before it was purchased by Donny & Shirley Fulton who operated it for 29 years before selling it to Rick Perry in 2001 became its current owner and operator). From 1976 through 1984, Buford had two main coffee roasters: Dutch Bros./Buford Coffee Company (DBC) which produced high-quality Arabica beans that were roasted at their facility on Patton Drive; Androsco/Buford Coffee Company (AJC) which produced Robusta beans that were roasted at a location near Interstate 85 north of town (Athens Road). Both companies made use of only 100% whole bean beans with no pre-packaged blends available at any time during these years! Rick Perry bought AJC's Athens Road facility from Donny & Shirley Fulton in 2001 becoming its current owner and operator

Buford is a small city located in the U.S. state of Georgia. The population was 9,821 at the 2000 census. Buford is part of the Atlanta metropolitan area and is the county seat of Fulton County. It lies on the Eastern Shore of Georgia and is bordered by Marietta to the north, Smyrna to the east, Lanier to the south, and Chatahoochee River to the west. The town was first settled in 1847 by Methodist missionaries from South Carolina under license from President Andrew Jackson as a step towards establishing missions in what would become Georgia. The town site was chosen because it had a favorable location for farming with good roads and water supplies. The name "Buford" comes from an early settler's Indian name for this spot - "Wabashka". In 1852, Daniel Webster founded Webster University here after serving as president of Yale College in New Haven, Connecticut; later that year he donated land for college near present-day Buford Plaza mall while still living in New Haven. In 1877, David Starr Jordan opened his own cotton gin here and began producing white linen fabrics which became known nationally as "Jordan's Flags." In 1927, General Electric moved its corporate headquarters from Newark, New Jersey to Scranton/Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania; GE chose Buford as their choice for its new main campus because it had both ample space and easy access to transportation amenities such as Interstate 95 (the main route between Atlanta and Philadelphia) andAtlanta's major airports (Fulton/Paulding International Airport on Marietta's east side and Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport on GA I-95). This move helped spur economic development around GE's campuses throughout northeast Pennsylvania including Buford which saw rapid growth during these years with many new businesses created along I-95 corridor including Jiffy Lube tire store chain founder Lamar Hunt Sr.'s initial investment in 1990s when he purchased over 1 million square feet of retail space at Paulding airport Mall; modern day Philips 66 truck dealership owner Ross Perot Jr.'s purchase of Overhead Bridge restaurant complex adjacent to Hartsfield-Jackson Airport; Northrop GrummanHawaii Inc.'s purchase of Glynn Air Force Base Headquarters Facility adjacent to Lemmon AFB; construction began on Philips Arena – now home to Delta Airlines – just south of downtown Atlanta in 2002 followed by Medallion Hospitality Properties' acquisition of Hawks Nest Resort & Casino across Interstate 285 from downtown Buford following bankruptcy filing by former casino landlord Sheldon Adelson Today there are over 120 businesses operating along I-95 corridor within 5 miles radius including 7 restaurants/cafes/bars operated by various hotel chains represented including Howard Johnson’s elegant old Convention Center Hotel & Conference Center next door [now known as Peachtree Inn], Denny’s Restaurant Group’s popular Chain Reaction Cafe inside Philips Arena [now called Corentine Place], Red Lobster - one stop shopping for seafood - multiple locations throughout Downtown Atlanta [including MARTA Rail Station], BJCC basketball arena redevelopment project announced [current status unknown] with redeveloped facility set to open in 2021), Gwinnett County jail being renovated with Federal Aviation Administration Hangar #2 currently leased back out from previous tenant US Airways Airlines who vacated it prior its sale last year There are also plans underway for another large business park located adjacent Interstate 85 just west of downtown that will include several thousand additional jobs across diverse industries Today there are over 120 businesses operating along I–95 corridor within 5 miles radius including 7 restaurants/cafes/bars operated by various hotel chains represented including Howard Johnson’s elegant old Convention Center Hotel & Conference Center next door [now known as Peachtree Inn], Denny’s Restaurant Group’s popular Chain Reaction Cafe inside Philips Arena [now called Corentine Place], Red Lobster - one stop shopping for seafood - multiple locations throughout Downtown Atlanta [including MARTA Rail Station], BJCC basketball arena redevelopment project announced [current status unknown] with redeveloped facility set to open in 2021), Gwinnett County jail being renovated with Federal Aviation Administration Hangar #2 currently leased back out from previous tenant US Airways Airlines who vacated it prior its sale last year

Buford, Georgia is a small town located in McIntosh County, Georgia. The population was 613 at the 2010 census. Buford is one of the oldest settlements in McIntosh County and has been inhabited by Native Americans for over 200 years. The first white settlers arrived in 1811 and named the town after General Nathan Bedford Forrest. In 1826, John Upchurch established a post office in Buford and it remained an important center until the early 1800s when railroads linked Atlanta with points north. By 1830, most of the Cherokee Nation had been forced onto reservations within Georgia and Buford lost its status as an important commercial center. However, it continued to be a center of African American culture until World War II when most of its residents joined forces with other black townships to resist Japanese occupation.
Buford was founded in 1822 as a small farming community on the Chattahoochee River. Over time, Buford became a thriving commercial center with its own railroad and merchants. The town's growth led to the construction of several large churches, schools, and businesses. In 1915, Buford was renamed after Confederate General Jubal Early.
