At that time, the area was known as "The Coffee Belt." Coffee was grown and traded in this region for many years. In 1881, an American named W.H. Denny started roasting coffee on his farm in Buford. Denny's coffee beans were sold throughout the Southeast and Midwest. By 1903, Denny had built a large factory in nearby Decatur to roast his beans and sell them around the country. Coffee has been enjoyed by humans since before records were kept of such things. The Egyptians brew their own coffees which they use to make mummies and other objects of art; these coffees have been found at sites dating back to 3,000 BCE! One theory suggests that early Homo sapiens discovered and tasted this fruit-based beverage for the first time about 50,000 years ago! Coffee cultivation began with Native Americans who grew it for their traditional bread and tea blends back in pre-European America. In 1794, General George Rogers Clark brought over 200 chests of Arabica beans from Spain to help start what would become one of our most famous coffee empires-the United States Coffee Company (USCO). From here on out, Roasters all over America would be buyingcoffee from various Spanish sources… even today some Colombian roasters still purchase their Arabica beans direct from Colombia! It wasn't until after World War II that fresh roasted coffee became popularized across the U.S., thanks to two factors: 1) improvements in processing technology – endogenic roasts now come directly off the tree; 2) increasing demand due to increased awareness of health benefits associated with caffeine including its potential cancer prevention properties

The economy of Buford has been based on manufacturing since its founding; some of the largest employers are Coca-Cola and Adidas Originals. Today's downtown district contains several large businesses including Macy's, Sears, JCPenney, and Ford Motor Company among others. All three have long retired or closed their doors in recent years but there are still many stores left standing that are used as community hubs or tourist destinations. Buford also has a rich cultural heritage dating back to when it was one of the most important cotton nodes in southeastern Georgia. The city hosts annually one of the largest antique shows in America known as "The Art Fair." Buford is a town in Georgia, United States. The population was 9,898 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Fulton County, Georgia Metropolitan Statistical Area. The town was founded by General James Buford on November 4, 1807 as an agricultural community near present-day Decaturville. In 1828, Buford became a county seat and remained so until 1903 when it seceded from Fulton County and formed its own independent government. The first post office in Buford opened in 1829. A cotton gin was built here in 1830 by John D'Auria. The cotton gin produced up to 20% of all the raw cotton grown in Georgia at that time. In 1860, Confederate General Braxton Bragg camped nearby while besieging Atlanta and decided to forage for food in local fields instead of going into battle with his army; this event is commonly considered to be the start of Buford's economic development as a farming community. AfterAtlanta fell to Union forces on April 12, 1865, residents voted not to rejoin the Confederacy; however, they continued to support Confederate activities such as raising crops during Reconstruction period (1875-1913). Buford experienced some major changes during World War II: after Japanese bombers bombed Little Rock on September 16, 1942 (killing more than 100 people), President Franklin D. Roosevelt ordered all U S military installations "to be closed down without warning" – this order made Buford one of the last places in America where troops were expected to fight against Japan.[1] That same day (September 16), air raid sirens wailed throughout downtown Buford before cannon fire killed three civilians walking their dog just yards from City Hall;[2] this event remains one of the most notorious what ifs in American history due to its potential impact on civilian morale during wartime.[3] On October 15th 1943 an F4U Corsair flown by Lieutenant Colonel James Moulton crashed into a corn field off Main Street killing both pilot and copilot William Lovett along with five other men aboard including two farmers who had been working adjacent land owned by Moulton's father-in-law Sears;[4] this event is also infamous because it caused much public outcry across America over aerial warfare at that time and led directly to Operation Crossroads which aimed Topple Japan projectOperation Pacific No 1 Oklahoma City bombingwhich took place on December 7th 1993 . After World War II ended there were many small businesses established here like Cement works which started production soon after war ended huge amounts of cement needed for reconstruction . There are still many small businesses closed now but there are new companies popping up every few years
Buford, Georgia was founded in 1807 by General James Buford and is the county seat of Union County. The city was established in 1868, following the completion of a railroad line from Atlanta to Buford. In 1915, Buford was renamed for General Nathan Bedford Forrest after his victory in the Battle of Chickamauga.
