From then until 1865 there were numerous operations throughout central Georgia led by generals like Major General Nathan Bedford Forrest who inflicted great losses on Confederate forces while simultaneously disrupting their logistics system; this finally culminated in a successful assault against Richmond August 22nd 1865 which resulted in Operation “Pickett” - the largest amphibious assault ever mounted during World War I

Brunswick was founded in 1824 as a small settlement on the Swann's Creek River, about north of present-day Savannah. It grew rapidly and by 1830 had a population of over 1,000. In 1836, Brunswick became the first town in Fulton County to be chartered with a legal government. The town's growth accelerated during the antebellum period when it became known for its lace mills and other textile industries. In 1860, Brunswick became the county seat of Fulton County after being chosen by commissioners from towns in neighbouring counties. The city's rapid growth led to some social problems; for example, between 1840 and 1850 Brunswick had an average rate of 1 out of 100 residents who married someone else within their own community. By 1870 Brunswick had more than 12 thousand residents and it remained an important center until World War II when its economy collapsed due to military production shortages and racial discrimination against African Americans

In 1968, Brunswick merged with neighboring Jonesboro to form a larger metropolitan area called Atlanta-Jonesboro.
