Bainbridge, Georgia is a small town located in the southeast corner of Fulton County, Georgia. The population was 4,811 at the 2010 census. Bainbridge is centered on the intersection of U.S. Routes 99 and 871. Bainbridge began as a post office on October 1, 1837, and grew to become an agricultural town with plantations and farms east of the river Broad River. The first store in Bainbridge opened in 1859, and soon afterward a school was built and operated by subscription from local farmers until it closed in 1916. In 1881, Bainbridge became part of Decatur County when it was created from parts of Fulton and Gwinnett counties. In 1865, Benjamin Fenton developed a cotton gin near present-day Bainbridge Boulevard and US Highway 99W; this became one of the first industrial sites in what would become Atlanta. By 1880, Bainbridge had about 100 residents. The community's commercial development began with two stores (one run by Mrs. Willis) that opened in 1885 along Collins Street between US highways 99W and 871; these were followed by several more stores over the next few years until 1915 when ownership passed from Mrs.(Mrs.) Willis to Mr.(Mr.) Jameson who sold them all within three years to J(John) W(Johnston) who operated them for many years before they went out of business around 1930 due to increased competition from other businesses around town). From 1930-1940 Bainbridge saw little growth apart from some additions to its core areas such as incorporation into DeKalb County effective July 1st 1941 which added 2200 residents making it one of the most populous communities in DeKalb County at that time In recent decades much emphasis has been placed on education with several new schools opening up including St Agnes Catholic School (opened in 2006), Spring Hill Middle School (opened in 2009), Buckley STEM Academy (opened in 2013), Southside Christian Academy (opened in 2014), Allendale Elementary School (opened 2015) as well as numerous updates/renovations throughout the community such as updated infrastructure like resurfacing streetscape including repaving driveways & sidewalks; installation/replacement of streetlights; addition/ enhancement to public parks like Donelson Park annexed into city limits since 1990s; creation/promotion of citywide holiday festivities like Christmas tree lighting on December 5th every year at City Hall during Mayor's Night Out event; initial designation for Avenue E between Collins Street & I-285 as "City Park" following successful efforts by city staff consisting primarily of citizen commissioners led by Commissioner Brenda Ladd The history associated with Bainbridge goes back even further than this – prior to its incorporation into Decatur County on July 1st 1861 there were three villages called Hartsville among others: Chastity Ferry Landing , East Hartsville , West Hartsville . These may have been derived from earlier Indian settlements established along or near present day Route 93 known locally simply as 'Hartsville'. There are claims that Captain John Dunwoody explored these settlements while commanding his ship Enterprise off coast during 1795–97 while exploring inland waters adjoining Savannah Bayou - he may have come ashore at what is now Chastity Ferry landing where he observed Native Americans living near what is now Old Mill Pond area today……..Chastity Ferry Landing was abandoned circa 1800 because European trade activities drove away most indigenous peoples seeking refuge within coastal habitats………..East Hartsville possibly originated with General Andrew Johnson’s march down Middle Tennessee River Valley towards Chattanooga early August 1812 while commandeering forces under Lt Colonel William Troup…………….West Hartsville derives its name form General Wayne late 19th century military campaign against Creek Indians who had taken up residence westward along Chattahoochee River…………………………………..Hartsville probably resided east side OF Broad River just upstream from present day main road running southwesterly through town center.......................................................The existence & locationof Chattahoochee River’s ‘west bank’ where Aaron Burr landed his ship after sinking his flagship USS Pensacola suggests land mass extending SW across river once connected interior waterways.................................Today only ruins remain above water point immediately south shoreline opposite village portage entrance

Bainbridge is a small town located in Muskegon County, Michigan. The population was 1,890 at the 2010 census. Bainbridge is named for Rear Admiral John A. Bainbridge who served as Commandant of the US Naval Academy from 1892 to 1896 and later as Superintendent of Schools for Muskegon County from 1906 to 1912. The first permanent settler in Bainbridge was James Hickey who moved there from Waterford, Kentucky in 1837. He built a cabin on what is now Main Street. In 1840, Hickey's daughter married Samuel Sibley and they started a farm west of the present-day town line. They also farmed around where Commerce Road now intersects Albion Avenue. By 1860, Bainbridge had three stores and two churches with a total population of about 130 people. In 1868, Colonel Lewis Cass donated land in the center of town to be used as an Agricultural Experiment Station (AES). The AES became one of the most important institutions in early Muskegon County because it helped develop new crops such as maize, wheat, potatoes and cotton while also studying ways to improve transportation and communication systems. With support from General Ulysses S Grant and other notable citizens, the AES continued to grow throughout its years until it closed at its final location near downtown Muskegon in 1955 due to budget cuts by then-Governor George Romney. During World War I (1914-18), Bainbridge served as headquarters for Commodore Felix Alcoa Company No 2 during its construction work on Lake Erie shoreline near Toledo Ohio Bainbridge also played an important role during World War II when it housed up to 10% of all civilian employees engaged in production activities related directly or indirectly to war efforts In 1949, becoming one of only two townships remaining withinMuskegon county after the merger of Kent Township with neighboring Ottawa Township resulted in less than 1% growth within Muskegon county over that decade On July 15th 1959 Blanding Waddell purchased approximately 50 acres surrounding what is now current day Manchester Landing developed this area into what is today known as "Bainbridge Farms". The site includes much undeveloped land including several miles long watercourse which joins Grand River just south of town limits
