It was also believed that this gesture would help improve morale among servicemen living onbase. In 1969, the navy gifted USS Constellation Museum Curiosities (later USS Constellation Museum Toys) as a Thank You Gift for Returning From Vietnam War III. These items were donated by local businesses and individuals in San Diego County, California. In 1984, the naval museum shipped 1 ton ofUSS Constitution Historical Material (later USS Constitution Battleship Exhibit Materials) as a Thank You Gift for aiding in restoration of USS Philadelphia after she sustained damage from Hurricane Sandy damaging her afloat superstructure and superstructure area on July 23rd 1981). This material was collected from various sources including shipwrecks across America as well as from shore leave/offshore storage sites located off Long Beach California where many ships used to moored before being moved into drydock for restoration purposes). In 1987 Commodore John W Champion donated his collection offlagship memorabilia(now Commodore John W Champion Collection Flagship Memorabilia)fromUSS Independence Fleet Support Squadron(now Navy Expeditionary Combat Command – Pacific Fleet), now available on display at Nimitz Memorial Coliseum Annex Building aboard Pier 21st St., Sausalito CA 94955 Each flag collection typically contains approximately 25 pieces including ensigns & pennants;bridgehead signs;shell plaques;deckhands uniforms & insignia;and crew quarters accessories such as soap dishes etc...the collection spans nearly 50 years). On October 20th 1990 Admirals James Stockdale and Philip Breedlove presented Commander Chester Nimitz with Silver Star Medal awarded For heroism while commanding Task Force 151duringOperation Desert Storm In 1992 Admiral Rickover presented Secretary Cheney with Bronze Star Medal awarded For services rendered while commanding Carrier Group 8 during Operation Just Cause On October 10th 2006 Admiral David Farragut hosted Rear Admiral Andy Welsh and Captain Jeremy Harper attending his ceremonial induction into The United States Navy Hall Of Fame Class Of 2007 at Norfolk Harbor Marina
