The first CoffeeHouse in Americus was quite different from later establishments that would be developed throughout the country. It consisted of only two tables inside an open-air building. This type of structure did not survive long however, as other entrepreneurs decided to start their own Coffee Houses instead. In fact, only one storey exists today remaining from the original building which served as the cornerstone for future Coffee Halls across America

In 1984, Starbucks moved to its current location at 1250 East Broad Street in Americus. In 1998, Starbucks bought Dunkin' Donuts from PepsiCo and changed its name to Starbucks Corporation. In 2006, Starbuck's announced it would close all of its stores across the country by December 15th, 2007 due to low sales and competition from Dunkin' Donuts and Chipotle Mexican Grill. However,Starbucks reopened all of its stores within two weeks after announcing a plan to expand its reach into new markets such as Florida and Texas. In 2011, Starbuck's announced plans to open a new store in Alpharetta GA by fall of 2013
