The history of tactical coffee in Albany, Georgia began with a small cafe that served coffee and pastries to the residents. The first café was opened in 1907 by John C. Liggett and his wife Gertrude. The business continued to grow until it became the Albany Coffee Company in 1945. In 1951, the company merged with the local paper plant, which gave the cafe its current name – Albany Coffee & Paper Co. During World War II, Albany Coffee Company produced coffee for military forces stationed in the area. After the war, the company continued to produce coffee for soldiers and civilians until it closed its doors in 1969. However, due to its unique history and popularity among locals, Albany Coffee Company has been reborn as a popular tourist destination - today it is open every day from 7am to 6pm. Today there are several cafes serving Tactical Coffee throughout downtown Albany – all of which offer delicious cups of joe!

Albany, Georgia is a small town in the northcentral region of the United States. The population was 3,611 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Cobb County metropolitan area and is located about 26 miles (40 km) northwest of Atlanta. Albany is one of two towns in Cobb County that are both named after George Washington; the other is Decatur, Alabama. The first settler in Albany was John Thomson in 1786. In 1821, Alexander Stephens became the first U.S. Minister to South Africa and took up a home in Albany with his family when he left for that country. Stephens also served as Governor of Georgia from 1832-1834 and as president pro tempore of the Senate from 1840-1841. He died there on February 12, 1851, four days after being sworn into office as President James Buchanan’s Vice President over Andrew Johnson’s objections because Buchanan had chosen Stephens instead of Richard Mclntyre Woodbury Jr., who would have been eligible for election under the Twenty-Third Amendment to the United States Constitution which granted voting rights to citizens of African descent at age 25 years old. The site where Stephens lived now forms part of University Park Elementary School (UPS). In 1886, Albany Electric Light Company was founded by local businessmen Jno.[1] Crenshaw and Lew Wallace with help from millionaire banker Wm[2] Halleck III to provide electricity for rural areas throughout Cobb County until 1897 when it went national with an offer from Southern Electric Company . In 1898, Albany suffered great destruction when fire destroyed most of its downtown buildings including its library which still stands today on Broad Street near where I-85 currently meets Interstate 20 . Albany, Georgia is a town in Fulton County, Georgia, United States. The population was 5,898 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Atlanta metropolitan area. Albany was founded in 1820 as a trading post on the Chattahoochee River by General James Wilkinson and his aide-de-camp Colonel John Smith. The post was abandoned in 1824 and reestablished on the opposite bank of the river in 1825 under new management by Wilkinson's brother-in-law Major George Putnam. In 1830, Albany became an incorporated town when it amalgamated with two other towns to form the city of Athens. In 1906, Albany became a state capital when Georgia became a US state.
