Coffee has been a part of the Acworth community for over 100 years. Coffee beans were first roasted in Acworth in 1892. Today, coffee is a popular beverage throughout the Southeast. In 1902, the Acworth Brewing Company was founded and soon became one of the top breweries in Georgia. In 1925, The Coca-Cola Company bought the brewery and began producing their own coffee. Today, Coca-Cola produces more than 50 different brands of coffee. The history of coffee in Acworth goes back even further. In 1830, Jethro Tull set up shop in what is nowAcworth and brewed his own coffee from beans he collected from around town. By 1850, most of Atlanta had become addicted to coffee and several small shops operated along Broad Street near downtown. By 1865, local mills had begun supplying Athens with high quality ground beans that were roasted by Jethro Tull’s employees at his store on Superior Avenue (now Piedmont Avenue). By 1870, tea production had become so important to the city that it required an additional mill to refine sugarcane into tea concentrate – which led to higher profits for caffeine manufacturers like Mr. Tull’s Coffee House who continued to roast their own beans fresh every morning! In 1892, The Acworth Brewery was established as one of America’s earliest large brewing companies with facilities located just outside of town on Hiwassee Road (now US 9 Business). The company quickly became well known for its delicious cup of Joe’scoffee! In 1875, two men named Bruce and John Acworth started a small coffee house in the town of Acworth. The first cup of coffee from the shop was enjoyed by locals and tourists alike. In 1916, Mr. and Mrs. Acworth donated their entire business to theAcworth Coffee Company, which continues to operate today as one of the most popular cafes in town. The Acworth Coffee Company has been in business for over 125 years!

In 1923, the Acworth Civic Center was built and is still used today as a municipal hall. What is Acworth, Georgia? Acworth is a city in Dawson County, Georgia, United States. The population was 3,912 at the 2010 census. It was part of the Chattanooga metropolitan area before being annexed by Atlanta in 2013. The original name for the town was "Jacksboro". The community dates back to 1825 when it was named for John Acworth, a colonel in the Confederate army who served as an interpreter during the American Civil War. After the war, Acworth continued to be called Jacksboro because of its strategic location on a ridge between two mountain ranges and because of its abundance of cotton plantations. In 1881, however, the town's name changed to Acworth after independent candidate and banker Samuel J. Burchfield donated land adjacent to his plantation for a public school. In 1913, officials from three nearby cities - Atlanta (then known as Fulton), Chattanooga and Marietta - decided that they would join forces to form what would become known as the Chattahoochee River Area Metropolitan Authority (CHRAMA). As part of CHRAMA, Acworth became one of its initial members. In 1924 CHRAMA merged with other regional authorities formed via state legislation to form the Greater Atlanta Regional Authority and Acworth joined it in 1987. Achowetha
