In 1916–1917 during World War I known as “the war to end all wars” Acworth played an important role by furnishing munitions for both armies as well as supplying food for troops stationed in nearby states such as Georgia and Alabama among others; ultimately resulting in its elevation from rural agricultural community to major city status within just 10 years!
