On December 12, 1936, the Coast Guard was established in response to the Spanish-American War. The first Coast Guardsmen were hired on September 16, 1937. In 1949, the Coast Guard Auxiliary was created and began providing support to the Coast Guard. On May 1, 1951, the Coast Guard Districts were created and each district had its own station along the Florida coast. On July 21, 1959, a new command center was built at Fort Myers Beach and named after Rear Admiral John W. Hudgins who served as Commandant of Customs from 1961-1969. The Coast guard has grown rapidly since it's establishment with over 1 million employees worldwide today! Today there are two different types of helicopters that can be used by the Coast Guard: MH-60S Cobras and HC-130H Pave Hawks. These helicopters can provide cover for search and rescue missions as well as transporting personnel and supplies in support of law enforcement efforts. Additionally, a variety of boats are available for use by the Coast Guard including fastboats (Littoral Combat Ship), lifeboats (Marine Scout Boat), Helicopter Maritime Rescue Squadron One (MH-60R/MH-61D Black Hawk), Patrol Craft Squadron Three (PCS‑3) which is an all weather patrol squadron made up of small craft used for environmental monitoring purposes such as tracking sea turtles during nesting season; Coastal Security Unit which provides security patrols around military installations; Lifeboat Service detachment also provides resources to local governments when called upon; three helicopter airlift squadrons that transport equipment or personnel to various locations on our coast including Iligan Island off Puerto Rico; eight helipad squadrons that serve both DOD customers as well as commercial customers across 45 states plus Washington D.C.; one harbor defense squadron providing security at Jacksonville’s Port Everglades Naval Air Station The history of shore Defense has always been intertwined with our relationship with nature - ever since man first encountered marine life close to shore he has relied on his maritime assets to protect himself from coastal threats. These assets have included both manned vessels stationed offshore protecting people and property from attack by aquatic predators such as sharks or dolphins while underway or ashore when necessary; unmanned aerial systems such as UAV’s used for surveillance throughout specific areas nearshore or inshore dockside targets during times of high risk activity; ground presence including snipers aboard ships or positions ashore during daylight hours conducting manhunts against pirates or other criminal elements known to lurk within these waters As mankind increased their knowledge about oceanography they realized that certain areas nearshore posed particular dangers due primarily to natural hazards such as tsunamis generated by earthquakes or hurricanes while residing adjacent toolls subjecting beaches immediately adjacent thereto either tidal flats exposed at low tide ebb & flow rates exposing estuarine resources abutting open water habitat rich in seafood sources etc., etc., etc... Furthermore they also realized that certain economic interests could best be protected along coasts if access paid fisherman could not operate freely in those areas so Powerful establishments like Spain developed coastal defenses manned by privateers known only to them in order Commerce could flourish without fear of enemy interference This system evolved over time into something much more complex than simply employing Armed Privateers but morphed into what we know daytoday through National Security Letters obtained through Homeland Security Investigations allowing us arbitrary access regardless Of who is living Within 100 miles radius... The Coast Guard gift history in Vero Beach, Florida begins with Captain John S. Starkweather and his men. Captain John S. Starkweather was born on October 12th, 1894 in the town of Venice, California. He joined the United States Coast Guard at age 21 and served as a lieutenant for six years before being promoted to captain in 1925. In 1931, he founded the Venice-based yacht club known as The Venice Yacht Club and became its first president. He also founded the Venice Harbor Commission which designed and built navigation systems for the harbor. When World War II broke out, Captain John S. Starkweather served as commander of Station Miramar on San Diego Bay where he supervised naval forces fighting in the war effort. After hostilities ended, he returned to his yacht club presidency and coast guard service until his death on May 6th, 1968. His wife Vera died two days after him and is buried at sea with him

Vero Beach, Florida is a small town located in Brevard County, Florida. The population was 5,752 at the 2010 census. The town is part of the Miami-Dade metropolitan area. The town was founded on December 12, 1892 by John Wesley Jarvis and his wife Mary Ann Jarvis. They named their new community after Vero Bay on the African island of Venera. When it first became known as Vero Beach, it had a population of just over 100 people. In 1923, Gertrude Vanderbilt Whitney donated $5,000 to help start the local Junior League and other civic organizations in Vero Beach. In 1937, Mayor Henson agreed to annex adjacent unincorporated areas of Palm Bay so that there would be more room for residents in what was then an agricultural community with few businesses or visitors. During World War II, many people from Vero Beach contributed their time and resources to serve in the military including working at local manufacturers such as Ford Motor Company and General Motors plants in nearby Plant City and Miramar respectively. After the war ended in 1945, many of these same individuals returned home and resumed their everyday lives until they were called into military service again during Operation Desert Storm in 1991. Today, much like when it first began to thrive as a small community full of seafood lovers near Cooper River (now part of Jupiter), fishermen are still its breadwinners with daily catches averaging about 50 pounds; however land reclamation projects have led to less beachfront property available for development since 1970 making life difficult for some citizens who rely heavily on tourism dollars generated by thisisible spot on South American coastline which has long been one stoplight for both locals and tourists alike
