The Marine Corps Deployment Gift History of Pensacola, Florida dates back to World War II. The first Marines arrived in Pensacola in 1942 as part of the 1st Marine Division. They served in the Pacific War and during the Korean War. In 1954, the 2nd Marine Regiment was activated and stationed in Pensacola. It was redesignated as the 3rd Marine Regiment in 1959.
In 1972, marines deployed to Beirut, Lebanon as part of Operation Neptune’s Spear. During their stay they incurred a number of casualties including one marine killed and four wounded. This event is considered to be one of the most pivotal moments for the marines in Pensacola; it helped solidify their role as a peacekeeping force within our community and gave rise to many local businesses that owe their start to them today.
Since then, marines have been deployments around the world with various campaigns such as Operation Enduring Freedom (OEF),Operation Iraqi Freedom (OIF),Operation Desert Storm (ODS) and Afghanistan/Iraq respectively. However, no deployment has brought more happiness to civilians than when marines from Pensacola visit troops overseas based on Operation US Southern Watch which took place during May 2011-December 2011 inclusive. Today, marines are playing an even bigger role within our community by deploying aboard Navy ships conducting humanitarian aid missions throughout seaside cities all over Latin America.Navy Ships Many naval vessels are at anchor off our coast providing much needed shade on hot days or providing sanctuary for sea turtle hatchlings during intense weather conditions.

After months of campaigning, Ysidro defeated Hernán Cortés at San Juan Hill on October 9th 1810[4],[5],[6] resulting in control over much of North America south of Tampa Bay including Cuba and Puerto Rico as well as Guam and parts Of Hawaii After three yearslong siege by Ulysses S Grant’s army during the American Civil War (1865-1868), Pensacola surrendered on February 19th 1868 following heavy fighting which left 120 dead or wounded among 1,500 soldiers under General Gonzalo Pérez de Lozada In 1893–1894 architect Lorenzo Sullivan designed two shopping centers located along present day Constitution Boulevard – one called Market Street Plaza,[7] later renamed First Avenue;[8][9][10][11][12][13]and another called Alabama Avenue Plaza which included an attached movie theater/theater complex known as Ala Moana Center.[14]' Sullivan designed these complexes using Public Works Administration funds allocated for community development within specific geographic boundaries set forth by various governorates within Texas or other states affected by laissez faire economics then being implemented nationally via New Deal programs such as those launched by President Franklin D Roosevelt The historical significance associated with Sullivan’s work cannot be overemphasized given his unique perspective within architecture at that time which emphasized functionality over formality; he would go onto design more than 300 buildings across North America for clients such as Sears Roebuck & Co., Proctor & Gamble Co., IBM®, Coca ColaCola Company etc...During World War II Pensacola played host to many Naval Air Station activities providing support for Operation Neptune’s Spear[15], Battle off Samar(1941)[16], Battle off Leyte(1942)[17], Battle off Mindoro(1943)[18], Invasion Of Iwo Jima(1945)[19],[20]) As well As countless airfields used during war including NAS Albrook -now Chilton Army Airfield- NAS Key West -Now Homestead Field- NAS Patuxent River -now Joint Base Lewis McChord- Now Fort Walton Beach-[21]. In 1948 Mayor Pedro Menéndez created City Park located adjacent to downtown followed by Christoval Park adjacent to Airport property becoming Municipal Landfill until its conversion into Peniscolan Community Park District pursuant thereto effective November 5th 1959 On December 15th 1950 City Council adopted Resolution No. 350 calling for formation of a Housing Authority To provide housing exclusively for Negroes existing withinPeniscolan limits although no action was taken subsequent thereto until 1962 when resolution No . 467 calling for creationPineland Civic League Incorporating all citizens qualified therein was passedbyCity Council bearing little public opposition prior thereto
