Air Force museums throughout the United States display a variety of artifacts related to the military. One such museum is in Pembroke Pines, Florida. The Air Force Museum of History and Heritage is located on facility property that was once used by the U.S. Military Academy at West Point. The Air Force Museum of History and Heritage was founded in 1951 as part of Air University, predecessor to today's USAF Academy. From its inception until its closure in 1984, the museum housed an aircraft collection from all branches of the military as well as items related to historical events within the USAF (e.g., World War II). In 1984, due to budgetary cuts, then-Chiefof Staff General Jeffrey Ladd authorized the acquisition of an additional Boeing 707 Aircraft for use at Air University; this purchase marked what would later be known as "the Golden Age of Flight" at AFB Pembroke Pines because during this time, many students and Aerospace officers flew Airmen into combat around the world with Boeing planes! In 1987, then-Major General John Poindexter approved construction of a new hangar/ exposition hall on base which would house both our current aircraft collection (which includes Kiowa helicopters) as well as temporary exhibits relating to history & progress within our service since 1945! This $15 million project resulted in not just a brand new hangar but also two adjacent exhibition halls totaling over 325 feet in length! In 1992-1994 more than $22 million was invested into renovating various wing/ Engine Hangars including installation of brand new air conditioning systems for all facilities! Today's Air Force Museum owes much gratitude to Majors General James Doolittle III who personally contributed nearly 5% ($2 million) towards renovation & restoration costs for both wings headquarters building - one component now features a dedicatory exhibit about Doolittle's life and achievements! Today's museum also celebrates milestone moments such as enactment - December 14th 1993 - with attendance by dignitaries such as Former Presidents Bill Clinton & George W Bush! We are grateful each day that America's men and women serve her country through their flight training & duty abroad!!!

Pembroke Pines, Florida is a town located in Broward County, Florida. The population was 3,114 at the 2010 census. It is the county seat of Broward County. The town was founded in 1875 by developers who bought land from the Seminole Indian Tribe and built a small community near Fort Lauderdale to serve as their winter quarters. The name Pembroke Pines comes from an old plantation of that name in South Carolina. In 1917, Pembroke Pines became part of the newly created county of Broward and was incorporated as a town on February 17th, 1918. At its incorporation it had a population of just over 100 people. By 1940 the population had grown to 2,000 people and by 1960 it had reached 4,500 people. The economy of Pembroke Pines is based on manufacturing and service-sector jobs such as retail trade, office work and health care services. The local paper mills have closed down but some remnant businesses such as home furnishings retailer Lowe's continue to operate up until recently despite competition from online retailers such as Amazon and Searspurveys like Home Depot
A history of the United States Air Force Academy's air gift program is laden with history and tradition. The Academy has a long and proud tradition of accepting gifts from members of the military, public, and private sectors. The origins of the air gift program can be traced back to World War I. In 1917, Congress passed an act that authorized the President to accept gifts from citizens of foreign countries in aid of war efforts. This act was followed by another in 1919 that allowed for the donation of aircraft and equipment to any American military organization in support of war efforts. In 1932, Congress passed an act that established a national academy to teach young men how to fly airplanes. The Academy's first class graduated in 1934. By 1938, there were six academies across America teaching cadets flight training under leadership of Generals Hugh Lyle and James Doolittle. During World War II, the United States Air Force was activated as a separate branch of the armed forces on September 25th 1941 with Headquarters at Wright-Patterson AFB in Dayton Ohio . On December 1st 1941, President Franklin D Roosevelt signed Executive Order 9066 which provided for aerial bombardment targets within Japan . From then until 1945, over 50 million tons or munitions were dropped on Japanese cities by AmericanAAF bombers . The United States Air Forces stood shoulder-to-shoulder with their Allied counterparts during this time frame as they waged one Of The largest wars in human history
