From there it served as an inactive duty base until 1994 when it reopened under civilian control as Maxwell Army Airfield Museum #1 located adjacent to Maxwell AFB on Ocala Beach Boulevard! In 2001-2002 AFB underwent renovation which included adding new exhibits about the history of AFB including artifacts from WWII thru present day! The museum is open daily 9am-4pm except holidays! Admission is free for students with valid school ID!

Oakland Park, Florida is a community located in the Miami-Dade County, Florida region. The population of Oakland Park was 9,711 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Miami metropolitan area and has a total area of 7.5 square miles (19 km²). Oakland Park was founded on December 3, 1892 by Dr. George Ladd and Mrs. Emma Hammatt as a small farming town on the east side of Dixie Highway (now US 1) about 12 miles (19 km) south of downtown Miami. On July 8, 1907, it became an incorporated municipality with a population of 10 residents under the name "Municipality of Oakland Park". In 1917, after annexation by Miami Beach from Monroe County,[1] Mayor James Ladd proposed to rename Oakland Park in honor his deceased wife Emma's parents - Daniel Hammatt and Sarah Cleveland Shields - who had both died in 1913 while living in Bayamon City near Homestead Air Force Base just outside Lake Worth National Wildlife Refuge boundaries. The citizens approved his proposal to change their town's name to its current one;[2][3] emblems for new towns were first placed on post office boxes throughout the community on November 6 that year. The first postmaster was A J Lynch who served from 1915 until 1918. The first telephone service arrived in 1925 when Eastern Electric Company installed lines between OAKLAND PARK and Miamiside Heights which ran past what is now Overtown Avenue into Jackson Heights proper before terminating at Roosevelt Road near Jackson Boulevard east of Everglades Boulevard where it crossed over into Miami Lakes proper en route back to Havana Roads Business District southward paralleling I-95 through Cutler Ridge until reaching MIA Airport just insidebound lanes exiting I-95 exit number 9A within sight line from Northwest Expressway before turning southeast onto MIA Parkway which leads directly to Dadeland Drive leading southwestward across NE corner of airport property leased by United Airlines Corporation for use as an international terminal serving international passengers only prior to privatization as First American Airlines Terminal following merger with US Airways International Group Incorporated d/b/a American Eagle Airlines effective January 1st 1990

Oakland Park, Florida was first settled in the early 1800s by Seminoles. The area now known as Oakland Park was originally part of Tallahassee, Florida. In 1823, the Treaty of Tampa ended the Seminole War and created a buffer between Alabama and Florida. One year later, Oakland Park was organized as a town under the name of Jacksonville. In 1828, Jacksonville annexed what is now Oakland Park and changed its name to Jacksonville again after annexing Tallahassee. By 1835, Jacksonville had also annexed Sanford and formed Lake County. In 1846, when the United States acquiredFlorida from Spain, it included all of present-dayAlachua County except for part ofJacksonville which became St Augustine county. With this change in ownership came new opportunities for growth in Jacksonville. A canal company was formed to develop land along Bay River that would eventually become downtownJacksonville. They quickly began to build what are today some of Jacksonville's most popular tourist attractions--the original City Hall building on Bay Street (now home to both the Municipal Court Department and the Fire Department), Market Square (the old courthouse), Presidio Towers (the former military barracks), Plantation Row (now home to several restaurants and bars) and many other iconic landmarks including The Coliseum (a multipurpose arena/concert venue built in 1928) and Joe Louis Arena (home of professional boxing events from 1978 until 2000). The city's rapid growth slowed during World War II because so much valuable property was requisitioned for military purposes or used as slave labor in munitions production sites across America. However, throughout the postwar years Jacksonville has continued to grow economically thanks to job creation in various industries such as Information Technology, marketing research, real estate management etcetera
