Leesburg is a small town located in Lee County, Florida. The population was 5,477 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Orlando metropolitan area. In 1886 Leesburg became an incorporated city with 3 blocks of land given to it by General David Dixon for development as an agricultural center with roads to service the townspeople’s needs including steamboats that brought goods from Jacksonville to market. In 1925 Llewellyn Akins (1893-1982) purchased 640 acres of land near present day citrus groves for $7 per acre which he designated as “The Lakeshore Site” because he believed that this site would be ideal for growing fruit trees on artificial slopes fed by runoff from thunderstorm drains below his property into Lake Kissimmee which he named after his wife Lillian (1901-1987). He began construction on what would become known as Akins Park which included homes, tennis courts, a library/museum/theater complex and administrative offices; today only portions of these original features remain: Akins Park Home & Gardens contains more than 50 replica classic cars from throughout history while Lawn Tennis Stadium features nine regulation tennis courts complete with artificial turf; additionally several multi-million dollar renovation projects have been completed at both venues since their restoration including new house roofs over old leaky structures; all told visitor attractions now make up about 60% of LEESBURG’S PRESENT DAY CULTURAL VALUE comprising nearly 1 million dollars worth of items collected annually from visitors! In 1954 Mayor Percy Swartzenberger united all villages within Lee County into one municipality under the name “Leesburg” under subsequent state legislation sponsored by Rep., Tom Connally who argued that municipalities were better situated to handle social services such as education and health care due to their density; today Leesburgh remains divided between Orlando proper and downtown Miami Beach although most operations are now centralized inside OFMIS headquarters adjacent to US 1 where excellent parking facilities are available

By 1905 there were over 30 homes inLeesville Village which became one of Fla's most popular tourist destinations due to its picturesque setting surrounded by tall trees covered in grapefruit bushes – about 100 acres (40 hectares) of orchards were producing fruit during that time! The village grew slowly until World War II when so many people left for war that development momentum stalled again until after 1970 when large housing developments started sprouting up all around town center including several high-rise towers – still visible today! Today's community has experienced rapid growth since Hurricane Irma passed through last September - restaurants have opened up throughout downtown; shopping malls are being built near Interstate 4a Exit 126; new breweries are opening up; businesses have moved into renovated historic buildings - everything you could hope for as Fla's fastest growing city!
