One of the first businesses to sell small batches of coffee was The Coffee Shop, which operated from 1914-1965. The shop was known for its hand-rolled cigarettes and roasted beans. During the 1960s, two Largo businessmen, Don Pardo and John Kuczynski started a small café called The Coffee House on Veterans Boulevard. They served pre-packaged coffee and iced tea with added sugar and cream. In 1969, the Coffee House became an independent business with its own roastery and production facility. In 1990, local entrepreneur Rick Rubin opened The Beanery in Largo which specializes in small batch espresso drinks. He has been running the business since 2001.
Largo is a city in Broward County, Florida, United States. The population was 54,903 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Pompano Beach–Boca Raton metropolitan area. Largo is known for its Sarasota-style shopping malls and its Sarasota Marina. The first people to live in what would become Largo were Creek Indians who used the swamp for their hunting grounds and fishing spots. They built their homes on stilts to avoid waterlogging during hard times. In 1821, traders from Tampa visited Largo and noted that the area had "a very rich phosphate soil." A white man by the name of James McGill founded McGill's Compania de Fortunata in 1824 on land that he had bought from the Creek Indians. In 1829, Commodore John Denny surveyed a road from Fort Myers through Largo to Ft Pierce and named it after him – Denny Road – this led to development around what is now Midtown Santa Fe Mall in nearby Sunrise Boulevard. In 1830, John Hennepin opened a store at 5th Street and State Road 707 west of town with his wife Anna Hennepin as his clerk/manager. At $3 per week they were one of the first businesses in what would become Largo. By 1840 there were 20 stores open in town with $10,000 worth of inventory; this amount equates to about $2 million today! 100 acres (40 hectares) of marshland east of town was donated by Govt OfFla., which became Sarasota Marina Park & Aquarium Complex . After years of campaigning by civic boosters including JF Payne (Mayor), Mayor’s Maloney appointed Mr David Hackett as City Manager effective 1 Jan 1990

Largo, Florida is a town in Miami-Dade County, Florida. The population was 30,711 at the 2010 census. Largo is located near Intersection of US 1 and State Road 527. The town of Largo was founded on October 15, 1909 by Gertrude Averill and her husband Arthur Hargrave. It was named after Rear Admiral George W. Largo who served as commander of United States Fleet Forces Southwest Asia from 1951 to 1955. The first post office opened in 1911 and operated until 1914. In 1925, the Miami-Dade County Board of Elections changed the name to Largo for historical reasons; prior to that it had been called "Nassau". In 1938, the first school district in Miami-Dade County was organized and Largo became part of it. In 1959, when Dania Beach became a city, Largo rejoined the county but remains separate from it today due to its rural feel and lack of amenities within its borders
