The U.S. Navy has a long and proud history in Lady Lake, Florida. It was here that the first naval ship, USS Constitution, arrived in 1795. The navy continued to play an important role in the community until World War II when it abruptly stopped operations. However, the navy’s legacy is still felt today through many Naval Reserve units located throughout Lady Lake and its environs. The U.S. Navy originally stationed warships at Fort Brooke on Pensacola Bay before moving ashore to Castle Hill in 1846 following the Mexican-American War. The fort served as a base of operations for American warships during the Seminole Wars and also hosted Commodore James Kiang’s squadron during American Indian raids into Spanish territory in 1849-1850. After Florida statehood in 1907, Fort Brooke sawonly limited use until 1921 when it became home to Naval Air Station Jacksonville which serviced F-14 Tomcats and other fighter jets from 1941-1944 while NAS Miami served as the main naval air station until 1971 when it was closed due to budget cuts. In 1934, Admiral Chester Nimitz ordered construction of USS Enterprise (CVN 66) at NAS Jacksonville with orders to serve as America’s largest warship ever built at that time. With her massive superstructure and full battle loadings, she represented a major technological advance over her contemporaries at that time – something which would be especially important during World War II when she played a critical role in combatting Nazi Germany’s Axis forces from Europe to Asia Pacific via carrier borne air power alone! She made her maiden voyage on October 11th of that year and reached Guantanamo Bay on December 7th of that same year after completing two months of tests off Cuba! Enterprise eventually participated in three wars: World War II (USSR - 1943-1945), Korean War (1950-1953) and Vietnam War (1975-1979). In total she served four Presidents: Franklin D Roosevelt (1941-1945), Harry S Truman (1945-1947), Lyndon Johnson (1963-1968) and Richard Nixon(1969—1974). Her final deployment took place during Operation Desert Storm against Iraq on August 8th 1991 after which she decommissioned back at NAS Jacksonville where she remained until placed into mothballs by Congress in 1994! Enterprise is currently being refurbished/restored for eventual reuse! Today, there are numerous naval reserve organizations located throughout Lady Lake region including Camp Blandingsey Marine Corps Base; Naval Air Station Jacksonville; Naval Postgraduate School; Stonington Beach Marina; Sarasota County Sheriff’s Office SWAT Team; US Coast Guard Auxiliary Squadron Three Hundred One; US Customs Service Sector 25 Southport; US Coast Guard Auxiliary Squadron Two Hundred fifty one boats……to mention but a few! All these reserves demonstrate America’s commitment to its military members no matter what form their service takes!!!

Lady Lake is a small town in Polk County, Florida, United States. The population was 1,427 at the 2000 census. It is part of the Tampa–St Petersburg–Clearwater Metropolitan Statistical Area. The town was named for Lady Lake in nearby Clearwater County. A post office called Lady Lake was established in 1885, and remained in operation until 1959. The first settler to arrive in Lady Lake was James Denton Jr., who came from Kentucky in 1876. He platted the township on November 27, 1887, and it became a village on December 5 of that year. According to the United States Census Bureau, the township has a total area of ; of it is land and (2%) is water. As of the census of 2000, there were 1,427 people, 512 households, and 447 families residing in the township. The population density was 15 people per square mile (6/km²). There were 631 housing units at an average density of 9 per square mile (3/km²). The racial makeup of the township was 98% White; 0% African American; 0% Native American; 0% Asian; 0% from other races; and 2% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 3% of the population. There were 512 households out OF which 36% had children underthe ageof 18 living with them, 55% were married couples living together , 12% had a female householder with no husband present , and 26% were non-families . 25

The Constitution is currently on display at the Washington Navy Yard, where she has been since 1954.
Lady Lake is a small town in Florida, located on the banks of the St. Johns River. The community was founded by early Spanish settlers in the late 17th century. The name comes from Lady Lake, a large body of water that lies to the east of the town and forms part of its municipal boundaries. The first people to live in Lady Lake were Native Americans who hunted and fished near what is now Lady Lake Boulevard and State Road 441. In 1827, a man named John Clements erected a log cabin on what is now Loop 12 Road. From this location, he took supervised trips downriver each day to collect fresh water for his farm animals. In 1829, a woman named Sarah Goodyear established herself at LadyLake after moving from Osceola County, Florida. She built two houses around 1835 and started caring for her cows and pigs which she drove into Starke County for milk production purposes. By 1840, there were 10 residents living at LadyLake with one storehouse used for storing goods brought overland from Fort Myers (now Sarasota) by way of the I-95 corridor. By 1850 there were 50 residents living at LadyLake with four stores housing everything from barrels of cornmeal to saddles made out of horsehair; also present was an mill that ground flour into breads and pastas; two blacksmiths did forge nails; three shoemakers ran their own businesses; one druggist sold medicines including laudanum (a local treatment for malaria) while another sold whiskey and brandy; There was also a school where students learned reading, writing, arithmetic, surveying using rods or lines drawn on pieces of paper provided they could read them without assistance A post office was established at LadyLake in 1851 under the name "Fishersville." It served general area until 1861 when it merged with Jacksonville Post Office under new postal regulations which designated all post offices as "mail stations." On July 1st, 1865 Jacksonville lost its charter but retained its mailing privileges due to its population exceeding 6500 people within five years following incorporation as Jacksonville-St Joseph County . On January 1st 1870 an act incorporating Ladieslake created Polk County adjacent to Jacksonville thereby ending all mailing privileges for Ladieslake Post Office
