Gourmet coffee has been a part of Key West since the 1800s. The town was originally named Spanish Fort after the small fort that was built there in 1798. After the American Revolution, Key West became an English colony and the first coffee house in Key West opened in 1799. The first café on Florida's west coast opened its doors in 1810 and it remained open until 1926. During World War II, Key West became an important naval base and many Gourmet Coffee stores were established to serve troops and sailors stationed there. In 1951, Gourmet Coffee moved from its original location on Boca Raton Boulevard to what is now known as Marriott Hall on Calle Real. From then until 2003, Gourmet Coffee operated as a division of D’Antoni's Pizza which also ran Marriott Hall. In 2003, Marriott closed their business operations at Calle Real and Gourmet Coffee relocated back to its original location on Boca Raton Boulevard where it remains today. In recent years, KeyWest has become home to several popular cafes that offer gourmet coffee services including Boil & Bite Cafe located inside the Old Post Office building on US 1; Jack Daniels + Joltz Café located next door to the Keys Hotel; Rangoon Japanese restaurant - one of only two Japanese restaurants open in mainland America -serving up some of the most delicious sushi dishes around; and Blue Bottle Coffee which reopened its doors last year inside a brand new building just off US 1 across from Atlantis Marina Resort & Spa. There are also numerous other small businesses that offer gourmet coffee services such as Sweet Little cafe located down stairs from Pompano Beach Casino; Dutch Bros.' bakery - opposite Flamingo Beach Casino - offers pastries like croissants, cookies & more; Doyle's Irish Pub serves up sandwiches and burgers; Starbucks - across from All-Nite casino provides espresso drinks served hot with milk or ice cream for those who want something sweet after playing games all night long.; etc., etc..

Key West, Florida is a small town located on the southern tip of Cuba. It was first settled in 1835 by American colonists. The town became an important trading post during the Seminole Wars and later became a popular tourist destination for Americans and Cubans. In 1959, Key West was placed under U.S. military occupation and renamed Fort Pickering after General James Fenton Pickering, who served as Commanding Officer of the Marines in Cuba during World War II. The town has since been reborn as a lively community with its own unique culture and history. The earliest settlers in Key West were American citizens who had come to escape the harsh conditions of New England. They built their homes around a small Creek Indian settlement known as Musket Point on Muskegon Island (now part of Jacksonville). By 1835, however, there were only about 20 people living in Key West; most of these were traders who traveled to Havana to sell goods from America's sugar colonies there. In 1837, Commodore John Dye chartered three ships called The Dolphin, The Starburst, and The Mermaid to transport passengers and cargo from Havana to Key West for $5 per person per trip (about $27 today). These trips took about two months each way; so much traffic passed through Havana that it required more than one channel between the city and key! Accustomed to living close to sea level, many early residents did not appreciate how high land at Marathon point extended below them on Pensacola Bay: “We having resided near this bay all our lives & finding nothing but low water all season long we could scarce conceive how high it must be above us” wrote one man in 1840. However, within five years most residents had grown accustomed to their new environment and began building homes overlooking Pensacola Bay (what is now Water Street). During this time period some interesting events occurred in Key West including: In 1846 Captain Alfred Purdy leased land at Marathon Point from Spain for $10 per acre which he soon sold off for development into what is now Fort Lauderdale Beach;thus creating one of the first regional commercial centers outside of Boston or Philadelphia! In 1850 Keyser Smedley purchased 1/3 interest in Captain Averell Harriman's Cuban Telegraph Company which then went public with Nautical Chart No 2 dated October 10th 1850 describing "the best Natural harbour on Earth" available at present day Boca Raton FL - thus making landfall on US soil!! An inventory list included such items as "Chocolate manufactory" In 1861 Florida acquired her statehood following Mexican–American War efforts by President Abraham Lincoln;KeyWest remained unincorporated until 1865 when it became part of Volusia County . . . In 1898-1900 Naval Station Tampa fired upon USS Maine causing extensive damage off shore that led Congresswoman Jennie McClellan (D-FL)to introduce legislation providing financial assistance for repairs/new construction thereby establishing key west maritime commerce center
Key West is a town located on the Florida Keys, in Monroe County, Florida. The population was 9,868 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Miami-Dade Metropolitan Statistical Area. The first human beings to set foot on Key West were two Spanish sailors who sighted land in 1609 and named it La Isla de la Virgin (The Island of the Virgin). This name came from a sacred tree which they saw growing near St. Augustine. In 1795, Englishman James Kapp made an unsuccessful attempt to establish a permanent settlement on Key West as part of his exploration of the Lesser Antilles Islands. He instead founded Fort George Wright in 1806 and named it for himself. In 1821, American Captain John Davenport chartered a ship called "Vincennes" with supplies and men for exploring the keys and their potential resources including salt waterfalls and slave markets on Key West Peninsula. On July 14th, 1821 Vincennes made landfall on Cuba's east coast about 12 miles north of what is now known as Frenchman's Reef; however he only disembarked 11 men (the rest sailed away) due to tropical storm Isaac which struck that evening. Aftermath of Isaac caused extensive damage to ashore buildings including both Fort George Wright and Vincennes; however no one was lost or killed as a result of Isaac other than Kapp's crewmember who drowned trying to return home after escaping ashore during high winds conditions back at Fort George Wright.(Kapp had also built a windmill off Frenchman's Reef.) After this event key west became known as "Isaac Town" because so much damage was done by Isaac - many thought that God had punished him for making such an foolish decision.(However there may have been others responsible for causing so much destruction…) It wasn't until 1840 when Commodore Matthew Perry leased Frenchmen's Reef from Juan Ponce de León for use as his flagship during his blockade against Mexico that Key West started becoming popular among merchants interested in buying goods exported through Havana(and potentially smuggling goods into Mexico). As more people moved into key west prices started dropping off(due largely to increased transportation costs) so some fledgling businesses began to form including taverns/restaurants/stores etc.(This led directly to later development efforts by downtown developers like Howard Hughes who financed construction of hotels/a casino etc.). At this time most people living along Cuba's east coast either worked or fisherman but seasonal visitors would come down from Havana visiting friends or entertainment options such as penal colonies where various activities took place before returning home aboard ship prior sunset… these visits helped keep keywest open even during times when Havana was closed due primarily to US military action or blockade antics.) By 1860 most residents living along Cuba’s east coast had returned home while those living on Key West continued enjoying good trade relations with Havana.(During this time too new entrepreneur Howard Hughes developed nearby Marathon Airport providing easy access both Internationally AND Domestic flights!) By1980 almost all self-employed fishermen upriver had migrated southward ontokeywest giving way finally once again exclusivelyto professional fishermen!!)Today virtually all KEY WEST RESIDENTS ARE PROFESSIONALS FISHERMEN OR INTERNATIONAL FLIGHTS LANDING HERE!
