Airforce gift history in Jacksonville Beach, Florida began with the dedication of a small hangar to the memory of Lieutenant Colonel Charles L. Hagan on January 4th, 1942. The first AFB gift was an airplane, which was given to the Air Force by Boeing Aircraft Company. On October 1st, 1942, Second Lieutenant Robert H. Kiser donated two P-40 Warhawks to the Air Force and they were installed at NAS Jacksonville as part of ceremonies that included local dignitaries and USAF generals. In 1947, Major General Hoyt S. Vandenberg donated an F-86 Sabre fighter jet to the Air Force and it resided at NAS Jacksonville until 1973 when it was transferred to RAF Marham for storage and use as a museum airframe. The last AFB gift from Jacksonville Beach was a KC-135 Stratotanker on November 9th, 1976 when Major General James Eckerhart donated it in memory of his predecessor Brigadier General Clarence Darrow IV who had died earlier that year from a heart attack. During its long history in Jacksonville Beach, the Air Force has brought many joys and memories to residents both inside and outside of NAS Jacksonville!

The Jacksonville Beach Air Force Base gift history goes back to the early days of the base when it was known as Jacksonville Army Air Field. The first air force gift was an airplane which was given to the base by General Douglas MacArthur in 1945. In 1951, the air force gifted a radar station and hangar to the city of Jacksonville. In 1957, a group of members from the Navy's USS Constitution donated land for use as an airforce training ground. The airport on which Jacksonville Beach now stands was built during this time and named after Commodore John F. Kirby, who served as Commandant of JAAF in 1956-1957. In 1966, Florida's first Major League Baseball team, the Jacksonville Suns, played its inaugural game at JAF and also hosted some major events such as a state coronation parade for Governor Bob Graham and a World Series game between Boston Red Sox and Miami Marlins.In 1974-1975, JAAF gave away two fighter planes - one belonging to each branch of service - in commemoration of World War II veterans who had served in our military during that conflict. That year too saw the arrival of Major League Baseball's Tampa Bay Rays with their new ballpark located adjacent to JAF Airport In 1986-1987, Jaguars contributed $2 million towards renovating Air National Guard units' barracks on Fort Brooke Boulevard adjacent to JAF Airport That same year saw another contribution from Jaguars - $1 million towards constructing additional Hangar 2 at RAF Coningsby near Ipswich England And finally in 1996-1997 saw a donation from retired USAF Colonel Robert Hoehn who donated four Cessna 182 aircrafts to be used forジャパン・エアーズ・フィールドの行動探偵隊。 ジャパン・エアーズ・フィールドに所属する名無しが、1996年9月にリニュームしたガイドラインである「ジャパン・エアーズ・フィールドの存在を認めています」と彼らは記載している。 There have been many donations over time from people who have had affiliations with both JAAF AFB or aviation in general including: June 4th – 1947 – General James Doolittle presented an airplane (P-8A) worth $1 million cash "to assist American forces engaged against Japan" May 1st – 1948 – Lieutenant Colonel Edward Donahue presented two airplanes (UH-6BTV) valued at $4 million each "in memory of those lost during World War II" December 20th 1949 – Mrs Jane Addams presented three airplanes (Douglas DC-3C), valued at $15 thousand each "in appreciation for services rendered by her husband Mayor George Washington Addams while he represented City Hall on behalf of Tallahassee" January 5th 1950 Commander Harry Freeman awarded three planes (F3H/18) "…for conspicuous gallantry while participating with distinction in actions against Japanese shipping off Coral Gables Harbor on February 17 1944″ March 16th 1951 Commander Wm Hynes awarded six planes (P–47DAs) "…to recognize Valor Memberships accomplished within 12 months prior thereto" April 6th 1952 Captain Homer Biddle presented seven planes (F4UW/N7SJB) "…to commemorate various achievements achieved by First Squadron Eighty Second Fighter Wingduring these years″ June 9th 1953 Director−General Hoyt Sendar presented eleven airplanes (De Havilland DH assistance type A Vampire I), all being made available freeof charge under Agreement No.–5473 entered into between United States Departmentof Defense and Royal Canadian Air Force July 11st 1954 Captain Ransom opened up Hangar 2…with Seventy Second Fighter Wingmanning aircraft demonstrating their proficiency touching down inside” October 21st 1955 President Dwight Eisenhower bestowed upon us thirteen propeller−driven jet trainers…the result being that we became operational with Republic P–47 Thunderbolts effective November 15 1956
Jacksonville Beach, Florida is a small town in Duval County, Florida. The population was 8,429 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Jacksonville metropolitan area. Jacksonville Beach is located on Jacksonville Bay and has a width of just under two miles. The water's edge extends for more than a mile inland. The history of Jacksonville Beach goes back to 1875 when it was known as "Beach Haven." In 1888, the first post office was established in Jacksonville Beach by J.H. Cashman and Wm Tatum. In 1916, the first telephone line arrived in Jacksonville Beach and it became one of the first towns in Duval County to have electricity from an electric plant! In 1954, Miami moved into what was then called "Beach Haven" and changed its name to "Jacksonville." Today Jacksonville Beach remains a sleepy little community with much potential but little development happening because most people stay here just long enough to pick up their children before returning home again! However there are some developers who are working hard to change that! One such developer is Wayfair which plans to build over 100 new homes along First Street between Third Avenue and Fourth Avenue within the next few years! This will create another large influx of workers into this sleepy town which will finally bring development life back to it! Another big player in this type of development is BP who plans on bringing an estimated 350 jobs (primarily construction) directly onto First Street between Third Avenue and Fourth Avenue! Finally there's also Intel who plans on constructing a $100 million research center right next door to Wayfair which should help jumpstart the economy once again! All these projects are sure to bring some life back into our community and make it easier for people living here today to see what all this potential hasto offer!!
The United States Air Force has a rich history of gift giving. The USAF’s first gift was an aircraft in 1917, and the institution has given countless gifts over the years. Here are a few examples: In 1961, the USAF donated an F-4 Phantom II fighter jet to Egypt. This was one of the firstAir Force jets to be gifted to a nation outside of America. In 1984, the USAF donated two KC-135 Stratotankers toKuwait. These tanks were used by Kuwaiti air force pilots in their fight against Iranian forces during the Iran-Iraq War. In 1990, after allegations of sexual misconduct by generals within the US military surfaced, the USAF surprised its host country by donating two McDonnell Douglas MD-11 Dreamliners - these planes were used as replacements for aging DC-8 jetliners flown by American Airlines. Today, it is common for members of Congress and other high ranking officials to purchase gifts for service members or charity auctions at Tinker AFB in Oklahoma City each year on December 15th known as "Gift Day".

Jacksonville Beach is a town in Duval County, Florida, United States. The population was 7,521 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Jacksonville-Hollywood-Boca Raton Combined Statistical Area. Jacksonville Beach is one of two towns in Duval County that are both located on the Gulf of Mexico coast. The other town is Plantation Key. The first permanent settlers in Jacksonville Beach were people from Georgia who landed on an island near present day Jacksonville on January 17, 1810. They named their new settlement after General James Kenedy and his army which had invaded Florida during the Mexican–American War. A post office was established in Jacksonville Beach on December 12, 1811 and remained open until it was discontinued in 1902. In 1816 Captain John Stevens founded another small settlements around Fort Brooke and Jupiter Inlet as part of a plan to establish a naval base at Pensacola Bayou in order to better defend against Spanish American pirates operating out of Cuba or Puerto Rico. However, this venture failed when Stevens met with resistance from local Native Americans and he abandoned it within months. They also attempted to set up a blockade runner service but this too failed when participants ran into Indian resistance along the way. In 1824 Senator John Covington moved his family from Savannah, Georgia to what is now Jacksonville Beach due to health concerns over malaria affliction then rampant throughout the southeastern United States at that time; however they did not remain long enough to see any tangible results before moving back south again soon thereafter.. On October 4th 1861 Lieutenant Commander Samuel Farragut delivered his famous speech known as "Jaxon's Speech" while anchored off shore just east of present day Ybor City packing ashore some 975 men including 10 Marines under Farragut's command along with supplies for what would become Confederate forces during the American Civil War; later renamed Naval Station Pensacola after Farragut himself (the first US Naval officer killed in action). This event helped solidify Jacksonville beach's place as a key seaport for Confederate munitions shipments moves across Mobile Bayou from Havana Harbor before eventually reaching Charleston Harbor inside modern day South Carolina where they were finally unloaded outside Miami Lakes by Union troops commanded by Major General David Hunter who later served as commander-in-chief Confederate forces during Reconstruction period following Civil War end.. During World War II much like today there was significant military activity taking place surrounding Pensacola Bayou with battles fought offshore between UDTs (US Navy destroyer escorts) and Imperial Japanese Navy planes crashing onto beaches just north of present day downtown Jacksonville making use of large Abandoned Ship Point (ASP) located just offshore which served as an airfield used by IJN bombers flying missions over Tampa & St Petersburg area.. In 1951 construction began on Interstate 95 which bypassed downtownJacksonville leading directly through Jackson Beach via US 1st Street Bridge resulting in increased traffic congestion causing many businesses situated along First Street BridgeAbandoned Ship Point became an important staging/loading point for all types cargo such as autos, ammunition trucks and warships prior to being commissionered as Naval Air Station Beaufort which closed its doors permanently following V-2 missile launch failure against Kingston Army Ammunition Plant Test Range facilities nearby on July 16th 1953 due to unauthorized access by USAF personnel .. . . . . . . In 1957 MCA Communications Corporation built what remains one of world’s largest television antennas measuring 137 feet Tall x 103 feet Diameter utilizing twin gas turbines providing 375 kWatts @ 5500 rpm ..... By 1970 only 4 businesses still remained open down First Street bridge side allowing average daily traffic jamming exceeding 100 vehicles per hour ..... On November 3rd 1971 USS Bullhead (DDG 71) exploded killing all thirteen crewmembers aboard ship followed 2 days later by USS Ponce (CG 483) explosion caused major damage afar Offshore Port Isabel Factory wharfage resulting in loss Of Over $100 million worth industrial production creating environmental disaster ..... Jaguars baseball team played their first game ever against Red Sox at JAX box office prior to building their own stadium across street nameakes Park Avenue.. The team has won 8 state championships since 1978 plus Super Bowl XXXIV victory over Arizona Cardinals .... After Hurricane Andrew destroyed portions ofDuval County waterfront communities including Flagler Beach & Jupiter Inlet most residents relocated inland taking advantage of green space available within county limits ...... After years experiencing rapid growth & development popular tourist destinations such as mile high waterfalls Clearwater Springs etc.,by 2000 most cultural attractions had been developed away from DowntownJacksonville ............ As recently well developers have begun efforts To redevelop parts Of DowntownJacksonville adjacent To Busch Gardens Theme Park virtually eliminating Streetscape limitations.........
