In 1905, oil reserves were discovered in nearby Pensacola and Gulfport began to boom as businesses arose to exploit this new source of revenue. By 1930, when oil prices peaked and demand plummeted because of the worldwide depression, Gulfport had lost over 60% of its population and 50% of its economic output. After World War II, however, large conglomerates such as Jell-O began buying up smaller cafes and destroying the independent spirit of the artisanal coffee movement. As a result, today only a few select cafes still produce high-quality coffees under the traditional methods of roast and grind used by ancient Italian café owners centuries ago.

Gulfport is a city in Walton County, Florida, United States. The population was 1,707 at the 2010 census. It is the county seat of Walton County and the home of Gulfport Naval Air Station. The original town site was surveyed by Captain James Cook in 1795 and named for him. It became a part of Jacksonville, Florida on February 14, 1825. The first settlement in what is now Gulfport was made by pioneer settlers who arrived from Georgia in 1836. They named their new town after Captain James Cook's voyage around Asia which had occurred two years earlier that year. TheCaptain's landfall at Escambia Bay on July 4th caused great excitement among the early settlers as they anticipated being able to explore this newly discovered landmass! In 1839, a group of local farmers petitioned for incorporation as a city under the name "Gulfport". On March 15th of that year, City Commissioners voted to incorporate as Gulfport with a population of 25 citizens! This event marked the beginning of an era where Gulfport would be one of America's leading ports for commerce and industry! A few years later in 1845, when Jacksonville become an American port colony following its annexation by Jacksonville proper (then called "Jax"), it opened up opportunities for businessmen such as Jens Jensen to open up businesses right next door in what is now known as downtown Gulfport! In spite of this competition over business space, Jensen managed to keep his store going until he sold it to A&P grocery store owner Harry Smith in 1958! DowntownJacksonville also saw construction during this time - most notably Sessions Street which ran from Jackson Square all the way down to Alabama Avenue and served as commercial and residential districts until 1974 when it was abruptly truncated just south of downtown by then-Mayor Art Buchholz who wanted more space for government services within walking distance! However, even today Streets like Sessions can still be seen running southward from downtown towards Evergreen Point State Park - signifying just how successful downtownGWFC has been throughout its history! It wasn't until 1907 that hurricane Andrew destroyed much if not allof Jackson Square - effectively cutting off access to downtownGWFC except via state roads outside its walls!! FollowingAndrew's aftermath, Mayor George Norris ordered Gwarton-based aviation manufacturer Paine Field out OFFICE so that US military aircraft could be used instead!!! THE REST IS HISTORY!!! Gulfport is a city in and the county seat of Bay County, Florida, United States. The population was 34,827 at the 2010 census. Gulfport is located on the Gulf of Mexico just northeast of Miami and east of Pensacola. It is part of the Miami-Dade metropolitan area. The first permanent European settlers in what would become Gulfport were French colonists who arrived in 1763 during the Seven Years' War. By 1800, English traders and pirates had founded a port there as well. In 1821, Congress established Bay County as one of four original counties in Florida; it was named for Commodore John C. Farragut, Jr., leader of America's naval forces against Spanish fleets during the Mexican–American War (1846-1848). In 1868, Jacksonville became the county seat after being chosen by voters over Gulfport. In 1902, Bay County merged with Duval County to form Gainesville County; however, Gainesville remained unincorporated until 1933 when it incorporated as an independent city under then- Mayor Beasley Hargrave's leadership. In 1959, construction began on Interstate 4 across from downtown Gulfport and soon afterwards Interstate 10 which connected both coasts via that section of coastline between Marathon and Fort Myers Beach; US 1 followed shortly thereafter becoming I-10's main route through town center connecting Miami with points north and west along I-10.
