A post office called Davie was established at this location on January 10th, 1837 by John Hickey and named for his brother Jameson Hickey who had already settled in what is now Overtown (then part of Kendall Park) on December 3rd, 1799. By 1838 there were several families living in Davie including: McCarthy Bros., O'Brien & Co., Donnellan & McFarlane etc.). A school opened up in DAVIE IN 1893 by Dr JAMES McDONALD which evolved into Coral Gables High School where Imelda Marcos attended during her formative years! Today’s Coral Gables offers its students one world-class high school and many opportunities for college study!
