In 1949, an Italian-owned and operated café called La Caffè Cantinetta began serving Italian-style coffee from a small room on Main Street. In 1955, mainstreetcafé merged with another Italian-owned business, Il Bottega del Popolo, to form La Caffè Montero. In 1970, La Caffè Montero merged with another Italian-owned business, L’Osteria Veneto to form La Caffè Veneta. The present day company is known as La Caffè Dania Beach and its espresso beans are roasted by Joe's Coffee in their production facility located near the intersection of US 1 and State Road A1A.

Black residents of Dania Beach were able to keep their culture alive through local businesses and activities such as music festivals and dances that involved Integration on November 6th, 1955 when Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., delivered his “I Have A Dream” speech at Jacksonville’s Municipal Auditorium. In 1966, annexation of Ocean Springs by Dania allowed for interchangeability of services between the two villages which led to an increase in business activity and more people attracted to both communities.
