Callaway, Florida is a city located in the Miami-Dade County area of south central Florida. It has a population of over 150,000 people and it is home to the Callaway Golf Club, one of the largest golf courses in the United States. The golf course was founded in 1912 by Harry Dixon and is one of the oldest golf courses in America. The Callaway Golf Club was formed on May 10th, 1912 as a private club for members of wealthy businessmen who resided in nearby Miami. By 1914, the club had outgrown its original location and moved to what is now known as sections 302-304 on Northwest Seventh Street within Callaway’s boundaries. In 1916, Jack Nicklaus became one of its first members; he would later become its President and Chief Executive Officer (CEO). The following year saw another milestone for the club when it acquired land at 6451 Collins Avenue which served as its clubhouse until 1959. That same year saw also when architect George Shultz designed an innovative new clubhouse that still stands today – it features asymmetrical planks running along both long sides of each room with a steeple roof atop - marking yet another significant milestone for Callaway Golf Club. In 1932, Don King purchased 8 acres adjacent to what is now known as section 308 within Callaway’s boundaries – this parcel would later be renamed “King’s Course” after Don King himself. In 1951, Tom Fazio became president of Callway Golf Club; he would also serve as CEO from 1984-1991 before stepping down to join his father at Infinity/Hershey Foods Corporation where he held several senior executive positions until his retirement in 2003. During Fazio’s tenure at Infinity/Hershey Foods Corporation, he helped develop some of North America’s most famous golf courses including Kiawah Island Resort & Spa (1982), Ascot Racecourse (1984), Augusta National Golf Links (1989) and Cherry Hill Country Club (1998). Additionally during his tenure at Infinity/Hershey Foods Corporation, Fazio helped create or contribute to several other iconic brands such as Hershey Kisses®, Quaker Oats®, Gillette Mach 3 ® and Pondsweet® chocolate bars

Callaway, Florida is a small town in Stuart County, Florida, United States. It is located on the east side of the St. Johns River and has a population of about 960 people as of the 2010 census. The Callaway Historical Society was founded in 1916. The town was named after Callaway Plantation, which was located to the north of where it now stands. The plantation belonged to Samuel J. Wellman and his family until 1892 when they sold it to James Fenton Keyes and his brother-in-law, Lucius Eaton Keyes II. After James Fenton Keyes' death in 1907, his daughter Alma took over management of the plantation and renamed it Callaway Plantation after her father's home state of Georgia. In 1916, two men from neighboring towns - Wm Henson (a cotton farmer) and Leonidas Cook (a mechanic) - decided to form a business partnership to open a grocery store in what would become Callaway. They named their company The Agricultural Company Store & Grocery Co., Inc., but soon changed their name to The Callaway Historical Society because they wanted more control over their community's history than just being an agricultural company store. In 1935, they built the first building on what is now Main Street - this building still stands today as part of the society's museum complex. On December 12, 1892, Callaway was founded as a small community in southwestern Florida. The area that is now Callaway was part of the Lower Keys and had been known for its' fertile soil and natural resources. In 1892, there were only 10 people living in Callaway. By 1923, the population had swollen to over 1,500 and by 1929 it had reached 5,000. In 1937, Callaway became a town when it annexed the neighboring community of Fountain Hills. The annexation process was controversial because Fountain Hills residents wanted to keep their own town government whileCallaway's residents wanted to become one municipality. The merger resulted in an increase in taxes for both communities and also made it easier for businesses to locate within the new town limits. Callaway has always been a vibrant community with active civic involvement. It has held numerous events including the annual Christmas family party which is one of the most popular events in town each year .
