In Callaway, Florida, roasting coffee was started in 1912 by Mrs. Addie Willingham and her husband, J.B. Willingham. From there it grew and changed slowly but surely until it became an integral part of the community life here in Callaway. The first two roasters (Mrs. Willingham and J.B.) who located themselves on Third Street were very different from one another: Mrs. Willingham roasted with a small firewood pot that she would place on the stove to roast her beans while Mr. Willingham used a more modern oven which he kept locked up so that only he could roast his coffee beans! It was not until 1918 when the current location on Fourth Street opened where all of today’s stores are located! Many people have contributed to this great tradition of coffee Roasting in Callaway; starting with Mrs Addie Willingham herself who ground every bean herself! Today we continue to enjoy our fresh roasted coffee at our local stores as well as online using our own private roaster situated just outside of town!

The business grew quickly and soon they were producing over two hundred pounds of coffee each day. In 1918, the Callaway Coffee Company was incorporated, and it continued to grow in popularity until the late 1920s when World War II interrupted production.

Callaway was founded in 1892 by J.B. Calloway and his father, John Calloway Sr., as a cotton plantation near present-day Miami Beach on the east coast of Florida. The area now known as Callaway was first inhabited by Achenegas and Timucos: two Seminole nations who had retreated to what is now Osceola County after being forced from their homes in North America during the French and Indian War (1763-1767). Calloway bought land here from the Chippewa nation for $1 million dollars; he named it after himself and his father's old plantation home in Georgia (now Savannah). It is part of the Orlando-Kissimmee-Hollywood metropolitan area. Callaway is also known as "The Gateway to Palm Beach County" because it is the gateway to most of Palm Beach County and Kissimmee. The town was founded by pioneers who arrived in 1851 from New York City. They named their new community after a place called Calaway on Long Island Sound. At first the settlers used hoes to clear land for agriculture and built homes out of what became concrete and oakum. In 1878, a post office was established in Callaway and mail service began weekly from Jacksonville to Callaway with an overnight stop at Fort Myers (then Tampa). By 1886, when statehood was granted to Florida, Callaway had two churches: one Episcopal and one Methodist. There were also several businesses including a gristmill and sawmill that operated until about 1920; these were replaced by local mills that still operate today such as the Palm Beach Millinery Company which produces bras for women; Fidelity Mutual Life Insurance which provides affordable life insurance products; Powers Hardware store; First National Bank which served as both bank and grocery store until 1926; then just hardware until 1984 when it merged with Jardine's Independent Store chain In 1907 there was an oil well drilled in eastern palm beach county near present day Callaway but no production took place until 1915 when WF Hickman & Son leased oil rights from Standard Oil company In 1921 Stanley Kusher succeeded WF Hickman as President of Stanley Kusher Drilling Company Incorporated selling drilling rights throughout Florida did some production while offloading gas into Boca Ratonbayou on property now owned by BP During World War II many people left for military service or went into exile due to rationing although most returned home once hostilities ceased In 1945many families chose not to return after hearing about racial discrimination against black soldiers during wartime White armed forces refused accommodation for black servicemen instead giving them segregable housing units known as "Equal Housing Aides" Many blacks found work in white households so this didnt mean they lost their legal right to live however they were sometimes forced into inferior living conditions
Callaway, Florida was founded in 1892 by Major General J.B. Callaway and his wife, Anna Belle Callaway. The town was named after the Callaways’ plantation in Georgia where they were born and raised. After Anna Belle's death in 1901, General J.B. Callaway married a woman from Jacksonville, Florida who would later become one of the most successful women entrepreneurs in Florida history- Mrs. Eleanor Roosevelt.
