After leaving Portsmouth in 2001 following her tour as flagship for Commander Amphibious Forces West Pacific Fleet (CAGF), McNaught donated his Navy pistol paperwork and photos related thereto along with any personal effects not currently kept within the firearm locker system of LPD-5 to support PTSD awareness programs afloat worldwide through March 2002 when LPD-5 departed Yokosuka Naval Base Japan bound for Pearl Harbor after more than 20 years service! A standing ovation awaited him upon return!
