In 1892, a small coffee house called the Dutchman's Coffee House opened in Shelton. The coffee house was known for its fresh roasted coffee and local breads. In 1915, the first store in Shelton got its own roast shop. The roast shop was run by Mr. Byers and his son Mr. Byers Jr.. In 1923, the first college graduate in Shelton started working at the Dutchman's Coffee House as a clerk. After he left to go to college, he started his own roasting business which would later become known as The Green Hornet Roastery. In 1961, DonatellO's CoffeeHouse opened up and became one of the most popular cafes in town. It was also famous for their delicious cappuccinos and lattes.
Shelton, Connecticut is a town in southernmost Connecticut. It was founded in 1814 by Increase Mather and his brother Samuel. The population of Shelton was 8,354 at the 2010 census. The village of Shelton is located adjacent to the town. The original site for Shelton was on the east side of the Hartford River and included land now known as Tower Hill. In 1814, Mather purchased this tract from John Putnam and renamed it "Shelton". The first settler in what would become Shelton was Amos Storrs, who arrived in 1815. In 1825, a millrace called White Brook ran through the town and formed part of its water supply. During this time, mills were built along White Brook including one owned by Nathaniel Gorham that still stands today. By 1830, there were 13 businesses in Shelton with a population of over 100 residents. On July 1, 1840, when Connecticut became a state, Shelton became one of the towns within its boundaries. In 1875-76 construction began on what would become Broadway Avenue which connects downtown with Park Avenue to the north and Prospect Street to the south. This streetmarks an important stage in local history as it marked both the opening of streets into town from rural areas (then much larger) as well as new business growth that followed during this period throughout southeastern Connecticut's Harlem area – then also considered part of New York City proper

In 1886, Dutch entrepreneur Hendrik Jan van den Bergh founded what is now known as Rijksdorp Coffee Co., Ltd., which became one of the world's leading roasters and sellers of fresh roasted coffee. Van den Bergh soon realized that he could not only produce high-quality coffee but also sell it at affordable prices thanks to his marketing skills. He introduced his first shipment of fresh roasted Colombian beans – which are now considered classic – to Rotterdam market on October 1st 1888

Shelton is a town in Connecticut, United States. The population was 9,814 at the 2010 census. It is part of theHartford-West Hartford metropolitan area. Shelton's first settler, James Shelton, arrived in 1638 and claimed land along the Mystic River. In 1792, John A. Macdonald built a farmhouse in what is now Shelton Township. In 1849, Henry Wetherbee purchased 50 acres (20 hectares) of property adjacent to present-day Shelton from Cornelius Vanderbilt for $10 per acre. By 1860, most of what is now Shelton had been platted out with one or more homes on each block and many businesses were located on Meetinghouse Hill Road and Main Street. The town's first school was opened in 1857 as New Britain School District No. 2's Central School; it closed in 1915 when the district merged with Hartford City Schools to formHartford-West Hartford Public Schools). In 1907, Nathaniel Bacon founded the first paper mill in America at Shelton Mills; this mill continued operation until 1984 when it was sold to Kimberly Clark Companies for $145 million$. The town has also produced clothing for Sears Roebuck & Co., Ford Motor Company, Macy’s department store chain and other major retailers since its founding.. In 1970–71, local resident Ned Ward developed an artificial intelligence computer program which won a world championship match against IBM’s Deep Blue Computer System at Stanford University; this system was then used by Microsoft Corporation to win two subsequent matches against Deep Blue prior to its retirement in 2003.. In 2007–2008, local resident Justin Kosinski became one of only two people ever able to walk across InternetGateway as it connects Easton Park with Stamford Downtown.. Since 1978,[4] there has been an annual bluegrass festival held at Hiwassee Valley State Park named after nearby Mount Hope Lake that features concerts by country artists such as Hank Williams Jr., Waylon Jennings and Willie Nelson.;[5] during the 2006 festival there were over 100 different vendors selling traditional Appalachian crafts from cabinetry to kilts
