The Coast Guard has a long and proud history in Shelton. From its beginning as a small volunteer group, the Coast Guard has grown to become one of the most important service organizations in our community. The Coast Guard is dedicated to keeping our communities safe and protect those who rely on it. The first step in the Coast Guard’s commitment to safety is always complied with when receiving a gift from someone else. In order for the Coast Guard to be able to provide services safely, they need equipment and resources that are specific to their mission. This is why gifts from individuals or groups are so important; they help support the Coast Guard’s goals while also providing some great items for members of the community. One of the earliest gifts given by individuals was an old lifeboat called Thetis. This boat was donated by Mrs. Edwin Sibley, who was then living in East Haven and volunteered with the local coast guard detachment until her death in 1925. tis donation allowed for more coastal defense activities on Shelton’s beaches which helped keep residents safe during high winds and waves during storms like Hurricane Agnes in 1938-39). In 1951, Mr. Leonidas Sayers gave his boat Thetis II (now known as HMCS Protecteur) to Shelton Marina along with four other boats as part of a fundraising campaign for Shorewatch program (the precursor of today’s Coast Guard). These donations were especially helpful because they allowed us access not only to sheltered harbours but also open waters where we could practice our search and rescue skills during high tide conditions (and sometimes while under tow!). During World War II, many civilian contributions were made by individuals or groups such as Donor Incorporated who donated both materiel and manpower needed by various units within the military including vessels (such as USS Peacemaker), airplanes, tanks, trucks etcetera….. all without any strings attached! The Coast Guard Museum in Shelton, Connecticut is home to the only intact Coast Guard Cutter, the USS Pascagoula. This unique and historic vessel was donated to the museum by its builder in 1969.
Shelton is a town in Hartford County, Connecticut, United States. The population was 16,605 at the 2010 census. It lies on the east bank of the River Una, south of Hartford and north of New Haven. The town was first settled in 1794 by Nicholas Shelton and his family. The name "Shelton" comes from two English place names: Sheltone (sheltered) and Holdenhall (hall). Shelton was part of the Manor of Holdenhall which included much land east of the river Una. In 1668-1669 Sir William Huskisson purchased some additional lands including what is now Shelton from Nicholas Shelton for £2 0s 6d. Nicholas's son John had married Judith Vauxhall in 1588 and they moved to live near Hartford where he became an attorney and she became a womanof quality. They had three children: Nicholas (1592-1666), John(1596-1670) and Judith(1598-1667). John died young at age 26 during King James I's Anglo-Spanish War at Greenwich Hospital after exchanging gunfire with Spanish forces under Admiral Drake off Long Island on July 11, 1596; his body was never found When their father died in 1666 he bequeathed all his properties including Shelton to wife Judith who sold it all off except for 350 acres around what is now downtown Sheraton which she kept until her death in 1800. The site of modern day downtown Sheraton was once part of what is now known as Easton Pond whereupon it came into being as one man's property divided among several families with rights to use it as they saw fit while also living within touching distance of each other through common areas such as ponds or commons. Which means that today most people know about downtown Sheraton only because someone has written about it – typically a developer interested in redeveloping it into something more commercial or residential

The Coast Guard was created as an emergency response to provide law and order on the Great Lakes. The coast guard mission has evolved over time, including helping to protect coastal communities from terrorism, piracy and environmental pollution. Today, the Coast Guard operates more than 2,000 missions across the United States and Canada. The history of gift giving by the Coast Guard is reflective of its many years of service to society. Shelton, Connecticut is a town in Hartford County, Connecticut, United States. The population was 28,865 at the 2010 census. The community was founded in 1805 by Captain George Shelton and his brother-in-law Samuel Maynard as an agricultural village on the east bank of the Merrimack River near modern Uniontown. In 1868 it became a borough after being annexed by Hartford. The first settlers came from Hampshire, England in 1786. They were joined soon afterwards by other English immigrants such as John Woolridge and Thomas Chappell. By 1800, there were 1,500 people living here and some mills had been built. The first black person to live in Shelton was Ebenezer Baptiste who arrived in 1804. He served as justice of the peace for Shelton from 1807 to 1811. In 1830 Colonel Amos Kendall bought land here and laid out a town plan which included three squares each with four lots totaling . This development would be called "Kendall's Town" after him until it was renamed "Hartford". The townsite grew rapidly but few buildings were constructed because of lack of money or interest from settlers; only one store opened until about 1840. In 1868 Shelton became part of the newly formed city of Hartford when that town was created from parts of Stamford and Newington stations along with Derbyville (later West Derby). It should be noted that during this time Hartford had no mayor or executive branch like our present day government. All city business took place through elected officials including commissioners who held office for one year at a time then resigned to take another job within the city or county they represented vernacular architecture prevailed throughout most of this period with large homes typical except for churches which tended to be smaller and less elaborate than those found elsewhere Hartford saw its heyday between 1890-1910 while Shelton slowly lost population due to various industrial plants opening up around them such as Wethersfield Manufacturing Company which produced munitions during World War I; also General Electric produced radios here beginning production in 1921 In 1970 voters passed an ordinance aiming to stop racial discrimination against any individual based on their skin color within the city limits referendum victory helped spur further development especially around Downtown where several high rises have since been erected
