The United States Air Force (USAF) was founded in 1947, and its first mission was to provide air support for the nation’s military. The USAF has since become one of the world’s largest air forces with over 350,000 personnel worldwide. The USAF is also responsible for providinglift capabilities to many Allied nations and conducting multiple missions in support of Operation Enduring Freedom (OEF). In Norwalk, Connecticut, the USAF operates three primary bases: Tinker Air Force Base, Seymour Johnson AFB and Whiteman AFB. These installations have a significant impact on the lives of many residents of Norwalk thanks to their roles in supporting local communities both militarily and civilly. Tinker Air Force Base is home to the 5th Bomb Wing which provides bombardment services to NATO member countries as well as operations against insurgents in Afghanistan. Seymour Johnson AFB is home to 4 wings including the 22nd Bomb Wing which provides aerial refueling capability for bombers flown into combat in Iraq and Afghanistan; 3 wings that fly fighter jets such as F-15C/D Eagle aircraft; 1 wing that flies helicopters; as well as an ammunition depot. The Norwalk Air Force Base has a long history of giving back to the community. In 1951, the Air Force erected a memorial in honor of the fallen in World War II. The base also donated land for the creation of Norwalk High School, which opened its doors in 1957. Just two years later, in 1959,Norwalk AFB donated $10,000 to help build Stonington Elementary School. In 1966, the base gave $30,000 to help construct Norwalk Stadium and parking lot. And in 1984, the Air Force gifted $100,000 to help build a new wing at NORWALK ABQ STUDIOS-now known as University of Hartford’s Campus Health Services-in memory of Sgt. John Leary and his wife Donna Leary.
Norwalk is a town in Norwalk County, Connecticut, United States. The population was 21,352 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Hartford–Worthington metropolitan area. In 1836, Norwich Township split from Norwalk to become Trumbull Township. In 1868, the townships were combined again and renamed Norwalk. Norwalk has a coastline on the Long Island Sound and shares borders with New Haven and Waterford municipalities as well as Deerfield Beach, Massachusetts. The town's ZIP code is 06387. The town was originally settled by English settlers in 1630 as part of what would becomeHartfordshire County; however, because it lay along the Mystic River it became an important transportation hub for goods moving between New England and points south during the colonial period. By 1800, there were over 100 households in the town; however, because of its location along trade routes it soon lost importance until it regained some prominence when electric streetcar service began operating in 1908 which made Norwalk one of the first cities in America to have such service. During World War IINorwich was Hit hard by bombing raids from Japan but managed to remain operational due to its strong fabric industry that built tanks and other military equipment postwar; this also helped contribute to grow local economy during post-war boom years until decline following late 1970s recession touched off by oil embargo etc.. However since thenNorwich has been steadily gaining back lost ground with recent expansions including new business park across river which will bring jobs into downtown core while also expanding library & health center services
Air Force gift history can be traced back to World War II when the United States Air Force was established. The Air Force was created as a result of the Pearl Harbor Attack and during its early years it relied largely on donations from civilian donors. However, over time the Air Force became more self-reliant and began to rely on government funding. In 1949, the Air Force instituted a program called “Gift of Honor” which allowed members of the military to give gifts to civilians. From this program, it grew into what is now known as the Air Force Gift History Program. The first major gift from an American individual to the Air Force came in 1951 when Major General James E. Gavin donated a Lockheed P-38 Lightning fighter jet airframe and engines to be used by the USAF.[1] This was followed by other large donations such as Colonel John Witherspoon’s donation of an F-4 Phantom fighter jet in 1969[2] and General Leslie R. McNair’s donation of an F-15 Eagle fighter jet in 2002[3]. Since its inception, the Air Force Gift History Program has been responsible for helping countless individuals contribute their time, money, or both to help support operations within The United States Armed Forces. Some of these individuals include: Generals George Custer (1914-1917), Dwight Eisenhower (1953-1961), Douglas MacArthur (1895-1964), Curtis LeMay (1928-1991), Clark Clifford (1945-1973), Jimmy Carter (1977-1981) and Barack Obama (2009 -present). It is through this program that we are able to support our servicemen and women across America and provide them with items such as jets, helicopters, tanks, ammo boxes, or anything else they may need while serving Our country.

Norwalk is a town in Norwalk County, Connecticut, United States. The population was 23,514 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Hartford-West Hartford Metropolitan Statistical Area. The name "Norwalk" comes from "Newtown", which was founded by Puritans in 1638. The town's first settlers were led by Capt. John Winthrop and Maj. Samuel Maverick and arrived on July 4, 1639, two days after the English colony of Plymouth had been established on Cape Cod. They named their new settlement after their hometown of Newtown in England, but it didn't take long for them to realize that they would need more than just a small village to support themselves and their families. In early January 1640, Norwalk voted to incorporate as a town and began to build its first buildings - a meeting house and Clerk's Office - within weeks of incorporation. Norwalk quickly became one of the most important towns in Connecticut because it lay at the crossroads between several transportation routes: The Great Southern Road ran through the town; Route 9 connected it with Saybrook; and Rhode Island dirt roads led into Norwalk from Pawtucket and Warwick Colony (now Providence). And since Norwalk was located so close to points of entry for many major trade routes, its citizens were soon able to develop an extensive commercial base that continued to grow until well into the 19th century. In 1795, when New Haven became a separate city under Constitution Day independence celebrations (the day following Thanksgiving), Norwalk chose not to join New Haven and instead retained its own government under charter granted by King George III on November 8th of that year. This unusual situation lasted until 1834 when all towns in Connecticut were annexed into New Haven under newly created municipal law No. 2111 known as Municipal Corporations Act No.. While some residents may have preferred an independent existence or could have played an important role in organizing local politics however there was little appetite among either business or civic leaders for such an arrangement given how much better things were going already outside of town Limits….
