The New London, Connecticut Army National Guard has a rich and diverse history. The unit was founded on December 12, 1775 in response to the outbreak of the American Revolution. The first members of the guard were recruited from what is now Hartford County, Connecticut. The New London, Connecticut Army National Guard has served in various capacities throughout the years. In 1917, it became a Regular Army unit and participated in World War I as part of the United States Fifth Infantry Division. After the war, it continued its service as an arm of the Connecticut National Guard until 1983 when it was disbanded due to budget cuts. In 1990, the New London Army National Guard restored its order by becoming a Reserve Component Unit with full Title of The New London Armory Company/New London Regiment (NYNG) Cavalry Battalion (CWHB). As a Reserve Component Unit under that title, it continues to serve this community by providing military-focused training and services at both local and state level. Today’s army gift history can be traced back to December 12th, 1775 when units such as the New York militia were activated to help fight against British forces occupying America during the Revolutionary War. Over time, different branches of our military have been combined or redesignated into other units within our national guard system; however, no organization has more dedicated History and Heritage than ourselves – The New London Armory Company/New London Regiment (NYNG) Cavalry Battalion (CWHB). In 1990 we were reactivated as a Reserve Component Unit under that name which continues today providing military focused training and services at both local and state levels

The New London Regiment of Militia was a corps of Volunteers raised in Connecticut in 1775. The regiment served in the Second Continental Army under George Washington, and fought at Yorktown, Saratoga, and Princeton. After the war, the regiment returned home and disbanded in 1783.

New London was founded in 1664 by Connecticut's first governor, William Bradford. It became the capital of Connecticut in 1701 and served as the state's second city from 1785 to 1837. New London is now a small town within the Hartford metropolitan area. The history of New London begins with its founding as a tiny trading post on the banks of the River Thames. In 1664, Governor Bradford established New London as an official settlement on behalf of newly acquired land east of what is now Hartford, Conn. The town would grow rapidly through agriculture and trade, becoming known for its landmark homes such as the State House (built in 1701) and Royal Exchange (1724). In addition to their economic importance, these buildings also played an important role in local politics and culture. For example, both houses of the General Assembly were located in New London until 1785 when Hartford became the state capital. During this time, New London enjoyed some political stability which it would not experience again until after Confederation in 1815. During its early years, New York City was just north of where we stand today on Long Island Sound. There was no real connection between these two cities other than trade and occasional travelers crossing through for supplies or shelter during times of drought or storm damage along the Long Island Sound coastline. However, by 1800 there had been enough growth going on in Manhattan that a ferry service between those two points became necessary to move people around without having to go all the way across Brooklyn Bay - something that wasn't possible back then! By 1830 there were over 1 million people living in NYC while only 350 people lived hereabouts; this Growth led to increased demand for goods and services brought about by increasingly dense populations coming together! This combination also created new opportunities for businesses to thrive - such as Sears Roebuck & Co., Macy's Department Store chain, Jakupovic Brothers Brewery etc.. These businesses helped contribute materially towards continued development throughout late 19th century up into 20th century! In 1860s-1870s many more immigrants started arriving from eastern Europe bringing their traditions and crafts with them - making a big impact on traditional American art form called quilting/textile design! In 1814 Connecticut ratified what is now known as The Constitution which granted voting rights to all citizens regardless Of race or gender; however this provision didn’t take affect until 1840 when African Americans began getting registered at an increasing rate beginning with Colfax County – one of several counties swept up into slaveownership following America’s Civil War! With Native American tribes still inhabiting parts of central Connecticut including present day Stratford they played a significant role in early Connecticut history too: One Potawatomi chief named Saco sold his land near modern day North Haven for $1 million dollars just prior to British invasion during King George III’s War against France (1763-1765). This event signaled an end days for tribal control over central Connecticut – paving way for white traders/settlers seeking opportunity instead! During Reconstruction following World War II most black residents moved out westward due joblessness and crime rates being much higher than east coast relocation areas; however some did remain behind who continued contributing culturally and economically towards downtown redevelopment efforts through schools/commerce initiatives etc.; ultimately resulting in 2 large projects that completely renovated downtown neighborhoods: One being called Riverfront Park which opened up blocks bordered by Orchard Street / Broadwalk Avenue / Vail Road / Washington Boulevard onto Long Wharf Ferry Terminal; while another project called Central Square opened up down Broadway opposite Capitol Hill neighborhood – serving primarily commercial functions rather than residential use at first but later gradually transitioned into home ownership thru various community sponsored programs like REO Homes Incorporating historic Black families into new generations!) The Downtown Redevelopment Project fully renovated iconic block bounded Orchard St./Broadwalk Ave./Vail Rd./Washington Blvd upon Long Wharf Ferry Terminal reopening July 2007), adding height (to match original structure), retail spaces witout parking available beneath IMAX theater Block bounded Orchard St./Broadwalk Ave./Vail Rd./Washington Blvd adjacent Capitol Hill Neighborhoodopened Sept 2007 comprising mixed uses including residential units atopHistoric Black Familiesinto new Generations)
