The history of coffee in New Britain, Connecticut goes back to the early 1800s. Coffee was first grown and processed in this area by Native Americans. The first European to discover coffee beans in New Britain was a Dutchman, Cornelius Huygens, in 1696. He brought samples of thebeans back to Holland and started a coffee plantation in what is now Hartford, Connecticut. In 1814, Nicholas-Jacques Conte founded the Hartford Coffee Company with his brother Nicholas Conte and their father-in-law John Morse. The company grew rapidly and soon became one of the most successful American coffee companies of its time. Over the years, they exported their beans all over the United States and Europe. In 1914, they acquired a small town called North Haven from its original owners for $5 million dollars. They renamed it North Haven Coffee City and continue to operate there until today].
New Britain is a town in Connecticut, United States. The population was 16,598 at the 2010 census. It is part of theBridgeport-West Hartford-Norwalk, CT Metropolitan Statistical Area. New Britain is located on the southern tip of Long Island Sound and borders Lyme County to the north and east; Danbury Municipality to the west; and Watertown Municipality to the south. The first permanent settler in New Britain was Nicholas Montresor, who arrived in 1614 from England. He built a small cabin on what is now Endicott Street in what is now downtown New Britain. In 1635, John Day founded Derby Tavern here as a tavern for soldiers stationed at West Point during King Philip's War. Derby Tavern became one of the largest taverns in Connecticut. In 1795, General Israel Putnam ordered Colonel David Hunter to build Fort Putnam here on land donated by Amos Kendall III. The fort served as a garrison for several years before being abandoned in 1802 because of lowered funding from Congress mandated by President George Washington's Executive Order #5102 "On Restrictions upon Commerce with Foreign Nations." In 1807–1808, Nahum Taylor constructed a wharf along present day Main Street (now Hopkins Avenue) which he called "Taylor's Wharf". He also developed an estate which included 4 miles (6 km) of waterfront including 1 mile (1 km) of beach frontage on Long Island Sound opposite his wharf. This area became known asuffs or Newtown Beach after him and his heirs sold much of it off in 1833 to other developers including Asa Packard and Cyrus Ketcham Sr.. In 1847 Packard donated all but 1/2 acre (0.8 hectare)of Newtown Beach back to Nahum Taylor's heirs under contract conditions that they maintain its character as an open space accessible only through private property within walking distance thereof forevermore! After their purchase they demolished most existing buildings excepting one house which has been preserved as a museum relic since then! Since then Newtown Beach has experienced steady progress both environmentally and developmentally with new homes going up alongside old mills dating back over 200 years including some that are still standing today such as Chapin Manufacturing Company No 2 where you can find remnants of lead shot used in munitions manufacturingstill stored inside brick walls more than 350 years old! Today there are restaurants, bars,, shops,,and even an amusement parkAll while still remaining relatively untouched by development making it perfect for relaxation or exploring self !

New Britain is a town in southwestern Connecticut, United States. It was founded by Increase Mather in 1692 as part of the Pequot Colony. The name "New Britain" comes from the word "new," meaning new land, and "Britain" because it was one of the original thirteen colonies. In 1794, New Britain became an independent state and retains this name to this day. The first settler in what would become New Britain was John Alden, who arrived in 1692 with his brother Nicholas. They set up a farm on the edge of what is now Hartford Township. John Alden's grandson, Samuel Morse (1799-1849), was also early settlers here and built one of the first homes in Hartford Township. In 1795, when Connecticut became a state, New Britain became its capital city under the rule of Governor John De Witt. There were many important events here during that time including the signing of the Articles of Confederation which created America as we know it today; ratification of the Constitution; and George Washington's inauguration as President in 1801. In 1865, when Hartford Township was organized into townships, New Britian joined them as one municipality – becoming one of only two U.S., or “city-counties” without limits on how much land could be annexed by each township over time (the other being Minneapolis/St Paul). Today there are over 25 businesses located within walking distance of downtown central business district (CBD) including Ben & Jerrys ice cream parlor (opened 1957), Dunkin' Donuts Café (1958), Subway sandwich shop opened 1959 and Popsicles opened 1966 – all within easy reach for residents and visitors alike!
