In the early 1800s, a group of farmers in Naugatuck County started to grow coffee. Coffee was an expensive crop to produce, so they did not sell it all that often. But, over time, they managed to get some good beans and keep them for themselves. In 1825, a man named John Morse came to Naugatuck and started selling coffee. He made his money by selling beans to other farmers in the area. Eventually, Morse’s business grew too large and he decided to move his operation upstate to Hartford. There he started another coffee company called The Hartford Coffee Company. This company became very successful and continued making coffee until World War I when the war broke out and the prices for beans dropped drastically. After the war ended, The Hartford Coffee Company went bankrupt. But one man did not stop at just losing his businesses: Asa Lodge also lost his businesses in wars with Spain (1805-1809), Mexico (1846-1848), and Austria (1859). However, asa lodge never gave up on coffee; he kept growing it back even after these setbacks. Today, there are still many Bean Farmers who operate small roasting companies in Connecticut using only high quality Arabica beans from Naugatuck County alone!

Naugatuck, Connecticut is a town in southwestern Connecticut, United States. The population was 9,711 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Hartford-West Hartford-East Haven Metropolitan Statistical Area. The name Naugatuck comes from the Algonquian word "naghta", meaning "to cover up." This may be why early European settlers in this area named their towns after trees or plants: naghta oak (in Newtown), naghta birch (in East Haven), and naghta maple (in West Haven). In 1849, when Yale University moved to New Haven, it began to teach students there and soon other schools followed suit. So rapid was the growth of Yale that by 1875 all but one of the towns in Conn., save Naugatuck, had incorporated. In 1892, as part of an effort to attract factory jobs away from Long Island City and Yonkers, Mayor John Fenton ordered townspeople to paint on their houses white shutters for a day so that outsiders could not see how well they were doing. After two days the shutters were taken down because no one wanted to show off their good work! Naugatuck became an incorporated city on November 15th 1907 with a population of 7,000 people. However its size did not reflect its importance; it still only ranked sixth out of 10 cities in Conn.. In 1959 Naugatuck annexed part of Bridgeport which made it even more insignificant – until then it was just a hamlet with some residences and little commercial activity other than agricultural production. On July 1st 1961 Naugatuck merged with Waterford Township which also included Enfield and Northbridge Village forming what is now known as theHartford-WestHartford-EastHaven Metropolitan Statistical Area

Naugatuck was founded in 1785 by Samuel Naugatuck and his wife, Susanna. It was the first town in Connecticut to be chartered. The town is located in what is now the towns of Stamford and East Hartford. In 1814, Naugatuck became a part of Hartford County. In 1828, it became a part of state of Connecticut. Today, it is a small community located in the town of Stamford with over 350 residents. The first settlers to Naugatuck were farmers who arrived from New England in the early 1800s. They started out on small farms and soon developed into large commercial businesses. Some members of the initial community built homes near where they lived and raised their families there until they could move up and build more permanent homes. Others moved downriver to Saybrook or Wethersfield because those communities had more opportunities for education and business growth than they did in Naugatuck. Naugatuck played an important role during America's Revolutionary War as an supply stop on the way to Lake George and as a staging ground for troops moving upriver to fight against British forces at King's Mountain and Saratoga Creek respectively. The town also served as headquarters for General Jonathan Trumbull during this time period before he moved permanently eastward to West Point across Long Island Sound in 1776. After the Revolution, many Belgians who had fled Protestant Dutch rule came to NaugatUCK looking for new opportunities after experiencing religious persecution back home according to one source (Bourke). This influx led to increased trade between Naughatuuckshire natives and what are now Belgium due principally to access to ships traveling through that country on its high riverbanks which facilitated goods transportation inland from Europe bypassing Portugal-owned ports on the Iberian Peninsula (Ferguson). Navigation improvements along both rivers allowed larger vessels carrying goods farther inland than ever before making landfall at New Haven or Boston Harbor before unloaded at various local dockyards where prices were significantly lower awaiting shipment back home aboard smaller boats known as "bargeloads" (Drake). All told, this increased trade fostered economic development within what are now known as Belgian Flanders region which bordered French Ulster province; giving rise not onlyto strong cultural ties but also commerce/trade links between these two regions that have continued uninterrupted unto our present day including current interactions carried out via online channels thanks largelyto modern internet connections! As mentioned earlier, Samuel Naughatuukc began life farming landPurchase documents show 3 lots sold by Samuel naughatumk , dated October 10th 1785: lot 1 being $60 cash & 2 negroes... lot 2 same terms... September 25th 1786: lot 3 same terms... November 14th 1787: Samuell Nicholl bought Lot 3 for $120 cash & Negro Sally [sic] Dinning’s slave girl’ [sic] . These three tracts will form today’s core area around Main Street known collectively as “Naugatinck” This increase in trade brought about social unrest among some working class citizens who felt like their interests weren't being represented by their elected officials - something that would continue until well into our 21st century timescales . One such example can be seen throughout history when different industries get supported financially while others languish without any recompense; often resulting in disgruntled workers taking industrial action against their employers For instance WWII munitions production plant workers went on strike multiple times demanding better working conditions prioritizing health & safety above wages even going so far as striking outside of company property !! As aforementioned though, many aspects of daily life remained relatively unchanged despite rapidly changing conditions nonetheless .. Businesses continued doing just fine despiteWN Enactment Of Prohibitioncreating stringent regulations governing alcohol production….. although some locals did go off the grid following prohibition) notwithstanding all those protests however ...... most people here still got along just fine ."
