Garbett died in 1838 and his wife continued to live there until her death in 1850. At that time it included only a small area south of Main Street and east of river Thames which is now part of Norwalk. In 1814, the town became part of the newly formed Hartford-Worthington metropolitan statistical area when both towns seceded from Stamford Township. The Quaker Meeting House was constructed here in 1768 and remains one of the most popular tourist destinations in eastern Connecticut; its 3 stories are covered with period architecture including evidence for oak beams used to support roofing during some harsh winters. In 1876, Daniel Webster visited this site while campaigning for President against James Kossuth and he offered $10,000 to anyone who could find his tombstone or bullet holes within five miles (8 km) of his home at White Sands plantation near East Haven. His wife Abigail found them while they were out digging up roots around their home place one day and notified him immediately before he could be arrested for obstruction of justice! A large granite boulder still stands today overlooking Main Street commemorating Webster’s prize offer which has been called “the world’s earliest international award ceremony” as well as being one of the first national public ceremonies ever held outside New York City where such events were common at that time! With rapid population growth over the next few decades – paralleling expansion into suburban Danbury – a number of new businesses opened up areas northeast and southwest cornering Route 128 along what would become known as South Arlington Avenue (now North Arlington Avenue) between White Sands and Newtown Streets until eventually becoming an almost continuous strip mall stretching all the way to Interstate 84 just northwest of downtown Danbury!
