They sell coffee and tea, and they also roast their own beans. Over time, other families who lived in Longmont started buying the beans from the Andrews family. In 1896, John Atchison opened his first grocery store in Longmont. He sold food such as eggs, flour, soapuds and candy bars. He also began to sell coffee and tea. By 1912, John Atchison had four stores in town! His son-in-law Harry Laughlin ran one of those stores until he died in 1951. After Harry Laughlin's death, his son Don took over the business until he passed away in 1984. Don's sons Bob and Rick continued the business until it was bought by Java Coffee Co., which still operates today! Java Coffee Co.'s first purchase of fresh roasted coffee was from Don's sons Bob and Rick in 1985! Java Coffee Co.'s current location is on Market Street near I-25!

In 1916, after years of planning and construction, Main Street became one of America’s first municipally-owned streets when it was dedicated as a public right-of-way through central Longmont (Colorado Springs Gazette). In 1940, when WWII began with Germany's invasion of France, Longmont joined the United States Army Air Forces as part of Ninth Air Force assignment stationed at Hill 60 Airport northeast of Denver. After more than four months fighter combat activity against Nazi aircraft flying from Europe into North America (), Lt Col Robert Lunsford ordered all USAF fighters withdrawn from Hill 60 on October 24th 1940and returned to their bases around the country (). That same day saw the first combat engagement between USAAF F4U Corsair pilots flown by Lieutenant Colonel Robert Lunsford () during World War II (). Since its establishment as a city in 1976 long mont has grown tremendously with both residential neighborhoods being developed along main street near Brewery Square while other neighborhoods have been built near airport or university areas.. One such neighborhood that has recently seen some significant growth is University Village which includes several high rises along University Boulevard adjacent to Interstate 25/Broadway Extension
