The Broomfield Air Force Base is home to the Colorado Springs-based 2nd Bomb Wing (2BW). The wing’s primary mission is to provide air support for Operation Northern Watch, which is a strategic U.S. military operation conducted in response to the September 11th terrorist attacks. On Christmas Eve in 1941, two American airmen, World War I veteran John Marriott and his wife Alice, brought a gift from theAAF to their brother-in-law at RAF Molesworth in England. They had received an airplane ticket for London just before the outbreak of war and were eager to surprise their brother-in-law with a gift on Christmas Eve. The Marriott’s plane flew into enemy airspace over Belgium on December 14th 1941 and was intercepted by German fighter pilots while en route to Molesworth. The Marriotts managed to land their aircraft safely back at RAF Molesworth but were captured by the Germans who took them as prisoners of war until they were liberated by Allied forces in 1945. After liberation, both John Marriott and Alice found themselves homeless due to the fact that they were not allowed back into the United States soil until they fulfilled all regulations governing wartime civilians. After some time living in various places around Colorado Springs, John Marriott finally returned home on October 15th 1949 where he met his future wife AnneMarie “Annie” Goudreau whom he had met while working as a cashier at Inter State Sales Company located at 6111 County Road 24 North in Broomfield. In 1951, John Martineau married his second wife Lorraine Leduc who also became pregnant but gave birth prematurely due to complications during childbirth which made her unable to continue her job at Inter State Sales Company after giving birth; AnneMarie became sole owner of this business upon Lorraine’s death four years later in 1957. John Marriott passed away on January 30th 1998 after many years of service within the USAF Reserve Forces; following his death AnneMarie stated that she would like her husband be remembered through something other than simply being buried next door at Broomfield AFB since she considered him one of “the most loving men [she] ever knew” and felt very grateful for all he has done for her throughout their lifetime together including becoming an USAF Reserve Forces member himself!

In 1948, the United States Air Force deployed a gift to the People of South Korea in celebration of the Republic of Korea's accession to membership in the United Nations. The gift was an air force C-141A Stratofortress aircraft which had been converted into a troop transport. The aircraft arrived at Incheon International Airport, Seoul, on December 12th and unloaded its passengers and cargo at an airport hangar. On December 15th, 1948, General Douglas MacArthur delivered a speech from the cockpit of the C-141A as itDeparted for Pusan Garrison Airport. The flight path took it over Pyongyang where it dropped leaflets reading "Welcome To The Republic Of Korea!" before landing at Pusan Garrison Airport on December 17th. As part of its Global Broadcasting Expedition program, the USAF flew television commercials throughout Asia for American goods and services during 1949 and 1950. Broomfield is a small town in the western United States. It is located on the edge of the Rocky Mountains, about 25 miles east of Denver, and 20 miles north of Fort Collins. The population was 5,821 as of the 2010 census. Broomfield has been inhabited since prehistoric times. The first permanent settler in what would become Broomfield was James Aikens, who arrived in 1827. In 1881, a post office called "Broomfield" was established at the junction of U.S. Highway 6 and Colorado State Road 522 (later US 66). The name change to Broomfield occurred because residents alleged that Brush Creek ran through their community and caused brooms to be found there. The first businesses in Broomfield were loggers' camps set up by miners during the early days of goldmining in Colorado Territory (1859-1865). By 1870, much older mines had been abandoned and most of the men had returned to their families or moved away to other parts of Colorado.. However, some new miners decided to try mining in this area so they formed a group known as "The First National Bank." They started buying land around Brush Creek for farming purposes before starting construction on a bank building that still stands today on Main Street in downtown Broomfield. The First National Bank became one of the largest banks west of Kansas City when it opened its doors on October 24, 1875 (). In 1915, local farmers began raising beef cattle near what is now Keystone Lake while others farmed potatoes near Interstate 25 between Fort Collins and Aurora; these operations are now known as Keystone Ranching Company and Western Ranching Company respectively. In 1921 an irrigation canal was completed running from Belle Mead Reservoir northeastward across southern Greenwood County into Carbon County; this made agriculture more feasible in this area which hitherto had been dominated by livestockraising(). When World War II ended with Japan's victory over America (), many Japanese immigrants came toBroome Valley looking for work opportunities (). Some ranchers decided to bring their cowboys back home after discharge from service (); these Cowboy Ranches remain active today as well as several ski resorts within easy reach
