At that time, there wasn’t really a lot of variety in terms of coffee options available for purchase outside of Military and Law Enforcement cafés. However, due to the popularity of Tactical Coffee, The Buzz Café quickly became one of the most well-known java joints in Norwalk. In 1990, while stationed at Fort Bragg in North Carolina, Captain Jeffery “Jeff” Walsh discovered an opportunity to start his own café within walking distance of his barracks. Walsh decided to open up The Command Post Cafe as a way for soldiers stationed at Fort Bragg access local specialty coffee shops without having to leave their quarters. This allowed troops who couldn't easily go into town for their morning cup of Joe someplace they could always find comfort and nutrition while living close by. It also helped contribute to The Command Post's success as a retail outlet; during its first year alone, they sold over $5K worth of cups! Today, tactical coffee is still enjoyed by both military and civilian populations all over the United States – including Norwalk! While some people may only know about this style of coffee from deployments or high-stress situations where caffeine is needed immediately (like during combat), everyone should sample at least one cup from any given cafe before you decide if it's something you want into your personal rotation!
