In the early 1800s, Coronado was a small trading post on the edge of what is now San Diego County. It was here that Spaniards first discovered and began to explore the Pacific Ocean. In 1821, Commodore George Vancouver sent his ship Resolution westward along the coast of California. He named this area San Diego after Padres Francisco de Alcalá y Pizarro, deputy governor of Peru in 1797-1800. Although Spanish traders had been visiting California for centuries before Captain Juan Rodríguez Cabrillo discovered it in 1542, it wasn't until 1821 that any Englishmen arrived in America. The British were interested in acquiring large tracts of land east of Mexico City and they needed someone to guide them through the maze of rivers and canals necessary to get there. So when Vancouver heard about San Diego he decided to send a captain with supplies and an exploratory party instead of trusting someone who might not have access to such important territory. The first permanent European settlement at San Diego was made by Viceroy Agustín de Anza on January 8, 1824 as part of his effort to extend Mexican rule over all California beyond its current boundaries. Anza's nacionalista government wanted Mexico's control over all Californians so he established a military garrison at San Diego which included many American citizens who opposed their presence. As time passed more Americans moved into San Diego from other parts of America and even Europe, but few cared about building a wall around their new city because they thought no one would come until Mexico attacked them or Ysidro Castro took over from Anza in 1846-1847. It wasn't until 1840 that Colonel Antonio López attempted an attack onanchored outside Mission Bay while sea lions were swimming ashore because he believed they were seals! Unfortunately for him two days later HMS Beagle came close enough (1 leagueiles away) for López to see "a long body o' brown water lying just below us" which meant seal pinnacles - evidence that seals frequented these waters - so he abandoned his attempt and sailed back home empty handed López returned two years later but again didn't find anything conclusive so he abandoned any further activities during winter months when Seal season stopped . Finally on May 5th 1850 Mexican forces destroyed six English coastal vessels anchored offshore off Point Conception trying to collect sperm whales during whaling season Packers set out seeking victory but only became involved in skirmishes with navy personnel; eventually unsuccessful.) This episode helped solidify Mexican control over California as well as Create an international boundary between North America and South America dating backto 1606!

Coronado is a town located in San Marcos County, California, United States. The population was 1,821 at the 2010 census. It lies on the western banks of the San Marcos River, approximately 9 miles (15 km) north-northwest of downtown San Marcos and 7 miles (11 km) east of Historical Mission San Miguel de Allende. The first European to visit what is now Coronado was Juan Rodríguez Cabrillo on November 14, 1542. He named it Santa Cruz del Oro because of its gold deposits. In 1769 Spanish missionaries founded Mission Santa Clara de Asís to serve both the Ohlone and Alta Californiana Native American populations in present-day Marin County and parts of Sonoma County. In 1821 Mexican Lieutenant Don José Antonio Marañón founded Rancho Rinconada which included present-day Coronado. In 1847 Napa County was organized from part of Monterey County; under this new organization, rancho land became part of Napa Province. On January 16, 1850 Ventura County was formed from parts of Monterey and Napa counties; under this new organization, Ventura land became part of Contra Costa Province. In 1868 Mexico acquired control over California after winning a war with Spain; as a result, all ranchos within Mexican territory were confiscated and divided among the newly appointed military governors who ruled each province according to their own interests rather than those served by elected officials orNative Americans. The few remaining ranchos were typically divided among their owners’ heirs instead of being managed as public lands like they had been during earlier times when most people lived near their farmssteads or villages close to Spanish missions/townsides where they could trade goods with natives for goods that they manufactured back home inside their homes or exchanged with other tribes living nearby for items used by them in shamanic rituals or magic services provided by these same natives during religious ceremonies known as "pueblo altarpieces". On April 4, 1907 Eagle Rock resident John Copley lost his bid for election as county commissioner; he would later become one of America's longest serving Ulysses S Grant's Vice Presidential running mate in 1912 against William Jennings Bryan while Grant was still president due to his outspoken opposition to regarding women voter rights as well as his support for federalism which helped give birth to our current country system based upon statecraft rather than monarchy). In 1846, Mexican President Antonio López De Santa Ana granted U.S. Commodore John Cushing a claim to all land east of the Rocky Mountains under the name Rancho Santa Fe de California. This became known as Rancho Coronado because Spanish explorer Manuel Nieto had named it this way in 1785 while exploring along today's Interstate 15 corridor between Tucson and Cargo Bayou south of downtown Los Angeles
