Since the early 1800s, Coronado, California has been a center of coffee production. The first coffee beans were grown on the Peninsula in what is now San Diego County. Coffee was shipped down the coast to Spain and other parts of Europe for export. In 1847, Antonio Lopez de Santa Anna founded an experimental farm near present-day Coronado that became one of the largest and most successful roasting operations in history. The Santa Anna Coffee Company remains a major player in Coronado today. The arrival of railroads in the late 1800s allowed for greater access to markets throughout America. This led to increased competition for resources, which caused prices for coffee to drop significantly. By 1900, however, American growers had regained their dominance and coffee prices rose again until World War II ended any pretense of parity between American and European brewers. Today, Coronado is home to some of the world's finest high-quality coffee beans; its soils are perfect for producing strong cups of joe that are deeply flavored with roasted nuts and spices. The town is also home to several small businesses that continue to produce quality coffee while helping support local businesses.

The first European to visit this area was Juan Rodriguez Cabrillo, who sighted and landed on San Diego Bay in 1542. He brought with him a cargo of coffee beans and soon began exporting them to Spain and other countries. In 1824, Antonio Sanchez founded the first cafe in what is now downtown San Diego.
In 1607, Alonso de Coronado, an American Expeditionary Force captain and frontiersman, led a company of Spanish soldiers and horses across the Pacific Ocean in search of new lands to explore. He arrived in San Diego Bay on July 26, 1607, then followed the coast up the California Coast to present-day San Francisco. Upon reaching the Golden Gate Bridge on September 3rd he reported his findings back home to Spain. In 1609, after hearing about the discovery of Denali (now Mount McKinley), King Philip II sent Major Francisco López de Mendoza with a large party of Spaniards and Abenakis from Newfoundland to explore this newly discovered area. The party reached what is now Telluride National Park on November 25th and camped there for the winter. On January 8th–9th they marched northeastward along what is now Highway 101 until arriving at today's Yosemite National Park on February 14th. On March 21st they left Yosemite for their next stop - Mission Santa Cruz de la Frontera (present day Monterey). From here they continued down Highway 1 until finally reaching Mission Plaza in 1776 when troops from Alta California under Governor José Joaquin Murillo burned it down as part of a punitive expedition against Mexico

The world's first coffee beans were grown in Panama. In 1847, Italian navigator and explorer Giovanni da Verrazzano discovered the island of Guam while on a voyage to explore the Pacific Ocean. He noted that there was an abundance of coffee trees, and he named the island after his discovery. The first espresso machine was built in 1875 by Angelo Bicchieri.
The history of Coronado is one that spans more than three centuries. The area now known as California was first claimed by Spain in 1769, and the mission at San Diego was founded in 1821. In 1848, Mexico gained independence from Spain, and a new Mexican government designated the region as part of its newly established Federal District. The U.S., on the other hand, had been ceded to Mexico in 1848 after the Mexican-American War. In 1850, General Antonio López de Santa Anna led an American military expedition into central California to claim what was then Spanish territory for the United States. A series of conflicts followed with various groups claiming land around San Diego and Baja California Peninsula until 1861 when Mexico finally ceded all of California east of the Pacific Ocean to America under the Treaty of Guadalupe Hidalgo. As America developed its economy and population grew, so too did interest in exploring this vast new landmass. On July 24, 1850, Captain John Culpbeck became the first American settler on what is now Coronado Island when he sailed into Channel Islands Harbor from Oregon City on September 3rd aboard his ship USS Asiatic (ADM 15). After landing his men and exploring many miles of shoreline including Point Lobos, Culpbeck decided to build a small lighthouse which he named "Lighthouse Hill". This development marked an important milestone for coastal defense since it provided warning against possible attacks by Native Americans or pirates who were active along the Gulf Coast at that time. In 1862–1863 Commodore Robert Stockton explored Chilula Bay near present-day San Diego while serving as Commandant atoll fortress Alacatiya during Ulysses S Grant's Asia Expedition; northern Alifornia then became part of America On October 16th 1863 Commodore George Dewey landed troops on Isla de la Bahia (Island #2) within sight of Point Conception about 20 miles southeast of present day Coronado CA On December 7th 1863 USS Enterprise sailed into Channel Islands Harbor from Rosario Marina AB just northwest of Isla de la Bahia On January 2nd 1865 three vessels – USS Constitution (CA 74), USS Perry (CA 44) & USS Porter (APA 68) – made landfall off Point Conception about 25 miles east northeastof Isla de la Bahia On January 6th 1865 USS Helena anchored approximately 12 miles due northwestof Isla de la Bahia ; this was also reported as being ashore At least two ships - Constitution & Perry - remain unaccounted for during this period [ subsequent investigations have failed to identify any wreckage associated with these vessels ] In total there were six American warships within twenty five miles OF ISLA DE LA BAHAIA during 1865 . There are no reports documenting any significant missionary activity or conflict taking place on either island between Americans and local natives during this time therefore it can be said that both islands were successfully defended by US forces . However future events would later lead to tension between settlers and natives over control over resources such as water supplies
The area that is now Coronado was first settled by the Ohlone people in the early 1800s. The area became a part of Spanish California during the 1846 Mexican-American War, when Mexico ceded California to America following their victory in that conflict. For many years,Coronado remained a sparsely populated outpost on the edge of what is now San Diego County. However, over time its population grew rapidly due to increasing Hispanic immigration and ranching activity. By 1870, Coronados population had reached 10,000 residents. A series of natural disasters in 1894 and 1896 destroyed most of the town's infrastructure and destroyed much of its agricultural production; however, some small businesses managed to continue operating until about World War II. Today, portions of Coronado are still inhabited by Hispanics and Mexican Americans who continue ranching and farming there.
