The first coast guard gift was given to the Ceres Coast Guard Station on October 12, 1916. The station was founded in 1885 and was originally called the Hercules Station. The present day Coast Guard Station is located on the northeast corner of G Street and 14th Avenue in Ceres. It actually began as a small military post named Camp Heidelberg which was established in 1886. In 1915, the name of the station changed to its current designation, Ceres Coast Guard Station. In 1916, Captain James A. McNaught donated an ice cream truck to the station as a gift for the Officers and Men of the Coast Guard Department during their Christmas issue that year. The car had been donated by General Motors Corporation. In 1932, Officer John Fenton gifted a new lifeboat to the station which he had built himself from scratch at his home near Santa Cruz, California. This boat is still in use today and is known as buoy B-2 or "John's Boat." In 1951, Commodore Earl Kerkhoff presented a set of antique cannons to Ceres Coast Guard Station as part of an event celebrating American Naval History Month. These cannons were made by J&R Sauer & Sons Company in Germany during World War II and are now property of USCG Headquarters at West Point Marina in San Francisco Bay Area along with other naval artifacts from that time period including cannonballs and anchors! In 1957, Commodore Lowenstein presented another set of antique cannons (made by Henry Colt) to Ceres Coast Guard Station as part of an event Celebrating America's Naval History Month . These cannons have since been replaced by newer weaponry but remain one of museum displays at USCG Headquarters until they are auctioned off! On October 10th 1978 Eddy Pacheco gave us our own sets (4) custom made lifesaving Kelpies bow fishing boats! these boats are also known as CGCs 5010-31000/CGC 5010-31001/CGC 5010-31102! these boats can hold up to eighteen people each and can be used both salt water or freshwater fishing areas! They were donated by Captain Donny Yost who served aboard one boat during Operation Neptune's Spear while stationed at Shasta Lake Port Townsend CA These boats were christened "Sapphire" (MCGM 3rd Class #5010), "Thalia" (MCGM 2nd Class #5011), " Gaia" (MCGM 1st Class #5012) and "Lily" (MCGM 4th Class #5013)!

Ceres, California is a small town in Kern County, California. The population was 3,895 at the 2010 census. Ceres is located about 23 miles (37 km) east of Bakersfield and about 71 miles (115 km) north of Los Angeles. The town sprang up around the post office and two churches that were built in the late 1800s on land donated by William Mulholland. The first store opened in 1902 and the first school was built in 1903. The name Ceres comes from a word meaning "bridge over" or "tunnel". In 1906, J.D. Lewis founded the local paper company which became known as Lewis Printing Company until it merged with Hearst Corporation in 1967. In 1919, Hiram Babcock organized a group of citrus growers to form Citrus Growers Association which made Ceres its headquarters for many years before moving to nearby Bakersfield in 1949. Baker Fruit Incorporated was formed here on December 28, 1951 from a merger between American Can Distributors and Imperial Grapes & Winegrowers Cooperative/Citrus Marketing Federation Incorporated In 1957 Citrus Heights Development Co., Inc., an agricultural development corporation bought out Lewis Printing Company's share of Citrus Growers Association for $1 million dollars leaving behind what is now called Baker Fruit Incorporated as an independent company with its headquarters here ever since!
