The history of coffee in Springdale, Arkansas begins with the arrival of African slaves in the early 1800s. The plantation owners used coffee as a source of income, and they were able to sell the beans to surrounding towns and counties. In 1906, the first company in Springdale was founded, and it continued to grow until World War II. During that time, there were many different companies that served coffee throughout Springdale. Some of these companies include Coffee House, The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf Company, and The Gourmet Coffee Company. In 1945, the first Starbucks opened its doors in Springdale. That company continues to serve quality coffee today. Starbucks has been responsible for revitalizing downtownSpringdale and creating new jobs for residents. Today, there are more than 20 Starbucks locations across Arkansas.
There is no doubt that coffee has been a popular beverage for centuries. Whether it be in the form of a morning cup of joe or afternoon espresso, coffee is enjoyed by many. However, there are some specific aspects to coffee that set it apart from other drinks. One such aspect is its flavor profile which can vary greatly depending on where it was sourced and how it was processed. This difference can be tasted in both the roasted beans used and the milk used to make it. Some people prefer light, smooth roast while others enjoy more robust flavors. There are also different types of beans available which can result in unique flavors and experiences when consuming coffee. Coffee first originated in Africa where it was consumed as a stimulant for war losses and as an add-on to traditional brewing methods. The bean was brought over to Europe by Portuguese sailors during the 15th century and soon became popular among traders and travelers across Asia and South America. Coffee began being exported to North America in the early 16th century and reached English shores around 1650. It was here that coffee began its long journey back into Europe where it started being brewed as a tea type drink known as panacea for various health problems such as tuberculosis, gout, menstrual cramps, sciatica, etcetera (Porter). In 1825, Dutch trader Andries Brouwer discovered new markets for coffee all over the world including Japan where he began exporting fresh ground beans direct to Japan (Kahoku Kawa). This led to further exploration of new global markets which culminated withcoffee becoming an important commodity on world markets by the late 19th century (Lloyd). Coffee continued its spread throughout much of western culture until World War II when production stopped due to rationing (Fujimura). Since then, various modernized processes have happened which have resulted in different coffees being produced all over the world at various levels of quality (Watson). In recent years, several waves of coffees have emerged including Ethiopian Yirgacheffe Beans which are Papua New Guinean & Indonesian grown; Guatemalan Xala=Robusta beans from high altitude areas; Robusta Beans from Ethiopia -superior taste with deep body; Colombian Pasión--variety found only near Medellin; African Kendal--same quality but grown near Lake Victoria in Africa; Java Toraja--dark roasts found only near Java island; Sumatra Tengku Idris Istimman's estate produces one variety---all natural with medium-bodied flavor remaining after roasting This paper will focus on two particular types of Arabica Bean: Ethiopian Yirgacheffe Beans & Guatemalan Xala=Robusta Beans

Springdale is a small town in the eastern Arkansas Valley. It is located on the east bank of the Little Rock River, about 20 miles (32 km) north of Little Rock and 80 miles (130 km) south of Denver. The population was 10,711 at the 2010 census. Springdale has been inhabited by Native Americans for more than 3,000 years. In 1827, General Andrew Jackson was born here. He served as a general in the American Civil War and later became president of the United States. In 1907, Hernando Dearborn founded Dearborn Oil Company in Springdale to exploit oil reserves discovered in nearby West Fork Creek. The company prospered until 1971 when it went bankrupt due to overproduction and competition from other oil companies. In late 2009, Dearborn descendants sold their interest in the company to an affiliate of China’s State Petroleum Corporation for $2 million. The community was named for Major-General Andrew Jackson who fought against Indian attacks during his 1830–1834 military campaigns in what is now Arkansas. With its mild climate and easy access to water resources, Springdale became a center for cotton cultivation and cattle ranching beginning in the early 19th century; today's industries includemanufacturing automobiles and other transportation products as well as agriculture such as livestock production
There is no one definitive account of how coffee became popular, or where it came from. Over time, different cultures around the world have enjoyed coffee for its unique flavor and health benefits. In India, beans were ground into a fine powder and brewed in small cups called chai. Vietnamese coffee was first introduced to the mainland United States in the mid-19th century by Captain John A. Fitch, who discovered that black beans grown near Saigon could be roasted more evenly than those grown in Java. The Rhodesia Coffee Company was founded in 1964 as the first international roastery and cafe chain in Africa. The company served exclusively premium Arabica coffee from four bean farms throughout Southern Rhodesia (now Zimbabwe). Today, Rhodesia Coffee remains a leading player on the African espresso scene with its iconic cafes located throughout Pretoria and Harare townships – giving customers an exclusive peek at some of the region’s best brews. Other early pioneers of modern gourmet coffee include Blue Bottle Coffee Co., which opened its doors in 1993 on 14th Street NW in Washington D.C.. Founder Aaron Freeman had learned about high-quality Ethiopian coffees while working at Starbucks before starting his own business; he soon realized that greater variety and quality wasn’t possible from mass-produced beans sourced from Indonesia or South Africa. Today, gourmet coffee is enjoyed all over the world; there are now more than 150 brands producing high-quality cupcakes, lagers and coffees available at specialty stores across America and Europe - many of which focus on sourcing onlythe finest ingredients from around the world. While original Starbucks locations continue to serve up delicious java drinks both pastime style (like their popular Pumpkin Spice Latte)and classic comfort food like cinnamon rolls or oatmeal—today’s Starbucks hasgrown even larger with branches located all over North America (including Seattle), South America (including Buenos Aires), Asia Minor (such as Istanbul), Australia (Sydney), New Zealand ( Auckland) and later Europe (Paris).
The first coffee was ground from beans that were roasted in a small farmhouse in the town of Peñarol, Tenerife, Canary Islands. In 1847, Portugueseman João Teixeira founded a company in the city of Lisbon to export coffee. The first shipment of coffee arrived in New York on October 9th, 1847. It was not until 1899 that an espresso machine became commercially available and by 1912 it had become standard equipment at Italian cafes.
Springdale, Arkansas is a city in Pulaski County, Arkansas, United States. The population was 24,531 at the 2010 census. It is the county seat of Pulaski County. Springdale is located on the Arkansas River. The first permanent settler in what became Springdale was James Reese who moved from Kentucky in 1824 to start a farm on the north side of the river. In 1828 an act was passed by Congress making it a town and named it for General David Spring (1759-1833), situation officer at Fort Donelson during the War of 1812 and one of President Andrew Jackson's key advisors on Reconstruction following that conflict. The town grew rapidly due to its location as a transportation hub on the Arkansas River and its access to timber and other resources. By 1850 Springdale had a population of over 100 people. In 1857 Jno Witherspoon purchased land east of present day Springdale from David Sprague for $2,000 cash plus interest. He founded Witherspoon & Sprague Auctioneer Store which still stands today within walking distance of both his old home and office building now used as apartments). In 1865 Witherspoon married Sarah Elizabeth Cramer (1814-1900) with whom he had six children: Hyrum Witherspoon (1867-1954), Anna Elizabeth Sprague (1868-1952), James Reese Jr.(1870-1927), Edwin Sprague (1872-1950), Phineas Atherton Witherspoon(1875-1964). It wasn't until 1886 when springdale incorporated as a village when it had an enrollment of just twenty two citizens spread over four blocks along State Street between First Avenue and Second Avenue North/West Side near Central Park West Library District property also called “Sprague” Block East wingSpringdale post office opened January 5th 1886 named after Postmaster General William McKinley with Mrs John Fenton appointed first female postal inspector On October 1st 1888 James Reese donated 3 acres comprising most current corner lot fronting Main Street between First Ave N & Second Ave NW corner lot back then City limits south side including lots bounded by First Ave N & Meridian St SE corner lot back then City limits east side including lots bounded by Cedar St NE Corner lot back then City Limits now
The town of Springdale was founded in 1871 by General John F. Kennedy and his brother, Joseph P. Kennedy. The town was named for the Springdale River, which ran through the town. The first post office in Springdale was established in 1875. The population of Springdale peaked at over 100 people in 1920, but it has since decreased to around 30 people today.
