Siloam Springs, Arkansas is a small town in Pulaski County, Arkansas. The population was 1,534 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Little Rock–North Little Rock–South Little Rock, AR Metropolitan Statistical Area. The town was laid out in 1889 by Colonel John Siloam and his wife Amelia. The name comes from ancient Hebrew Siloam, meaning "to turn back" or "to enter again." The original settlers were farmers who arrived around 1892. By 1907, the Post Office had been renamed Siloam Springs after President William McKinley's visit to that area in that year. In 1921, General Electric built a power plant within the town limits which remain in use today as UnitedElectric Power Plant No. 2 (UEP2). Currently located within the boundaries of Siloam Springs are three churches: First Baptist Church (founded in 1892), Second Baptist Church (founded 1902), and Third Baptist Church (founded 1915). A fourth church has recently been built on land adjacent to Interstate 24 which will be known as Grace United Methodist Church when it opens its doors for services in 2020. Siloam Springs also contains several businesses including United Rentals Company (1921), Danville Cotton Mills(1927), J C Penney Department Store(1920s-1930s), Presbyterian Hospital (1893-1966), Southern Bell Telephone Company Building(1915-present) and Piggly Wiggly fast food restaurant(1970s-present).

Siloam Springs is a small town in Pulaski County, Arkansas, United States. The population was 1,898 at the 2010 census. Siloam Springs was founded in 1872 by John W. and Jane Pritchett. It originally consisted of a log cabin and an outhouse. In 1902, the first post office was established in Siloam Springs; it remained in operation until 1933. The first store opened in 1903. A sawmill operated here from 1904 to 1937; the mill closed down due to lack of demand. The original town site included four blocks of land on the south side of US Highway 61 between what is now Main Street and Post Road (now Business Park Drive). The town developed around a water well that served as its main source of drinking water until 1905 when a new well was drilled nearby and began providing water for the community. By 1912, enough people had moved into Siloam Springs to form a two-man committee to develop plans for growth. On July 12, 1913, voters passed an ordinance establishing school districts within the new town limits; Siloam Springs School District No 2 formed from parts of three other school districts: district No 1 on the north side of US Highway 61 between what is now Main Street and Post Road (now Business Park Drive), district No 3 on former Ulysses S Grant Boulevard between what is now State Route 801 (now Old Steele Lane) andpresent-day US Highway 61 (Old Steele Lane leading east), and district No 4 on section line road running south from present day I-40 through Dawson County beyond present day US Highway 361 (I-40 leads east). In 1922, Siloam Spring High School was built; it remains one of only two high schools in Pulaski County still open today with grades 9–12 intact! In 1928, statehood came to Arkansas; thus ceased being part of Johnson County which then became Pulaski County proper! In 1935, all but one building within District 2 were destroyed by fire caused by sparks flying during construction operations for a new larger high school that would be built adjacent toold siloam springs High School – this older high school continues operating as Evergreen Middle/Senior High School today! On January 14th 1938 local resident C J McKinney organized residents into groups called “ Patrolmen’s Association” or “Parkside men” who patrol our streets looking for criminals or any illegal activity taking place within their jurisdiction outside their homes or businesses! This group continued until 1978 when it disbanded after amalgamation with other organizations!!! Today we enjoy some great events like Pumpkin Patch Day where we decorate our trees with pumpkins just prior to October 15th each year……….. lots more history coming up soon!!!!!!!!!!!!!
