The history of the navy in Searcy, Arkansas dates back to 1851. That year, the town of Searcy was founded by Captain John H. Searcy and his wife Amelia. The Searcy Navy Yard was built on a small creek that flows through the town, and it soon became one of the most important naval yards in America. The navy played a significant role in American history during both World War II and the Vietnam War, and it is still an important part of local culture. Today, Searcy is home to two U.S. Navy posts: Naval Station Kings Bay and Naval Air Station Little Rock. The navy also maintains several ships at its Norfolk Naval Shipyard; these include USS Enterprise (CVN-70), USS Forrestal (CVN-72), USS John F Kennedy (CVN-68), USS George Washington (CVN-74), and USS Samuel Farrow (SSGN-6). In addition, there are numerous civilian contractor companies that provide services to sailors at NAS Kings Bay and NAS Little Rock. The first military presence in Searcy was established when General James Ketchum arrived in 1851 to lead a force against Mexican forces occupying the town. Ketchum's occupation led to development of a military infrastructure within the town which would become integral for future conflicts Thirteen years later, on September 16, 1865, Confederate General Pemberton attacked Fort Sumter in South Carolina; this event marks the beginning of Civil War in Arkansas. Three days later, Union troops under command of Rear Admiral David Dixon Porter stormed Fort Sumter; this event marks the end of Confederate rule over Arkansas Consequently, NAS Kings Bay became an open sea base for United States forces during both World Wars I & II while NAS Little Rock continued to serve as a landbase for American war efforts until 1978 When North Ireland closed its ports due to economic problems after Watergate he said "the good old days are gone forever" which caused many jobs lost including many naval yards around world However some new ones were born such as USNS Success (LPD 7) which is now used by Customs And Border Protection In 1951 Capt John H Searcy founded SEARCY NAVY YARD with help from Mrs Amelia Searcy This yard helped develop our present day defence syssel here atKingsbayNAS today

Searcy is a small town in Arkansas, located just northeast of Little Rock. The population was 1,836 at the 2010 census. It is the county seat of Searcy County. The name "Searcy" is derived from an early settler, John Searcy, who named it after himself and his farmstead in 1821. The first permanent settler in what is now Searcy County was John Searcy Jr., who arrived in 1822. He built a cabin on the edge of what is now Searcy Lake. In 1827, he married Anna Maria White and founded a homeowning family that would live there for many years. By 1830, John and Anna had three children: John (1830-1905), Sarah (1832-1912), and Orion (1835-1911). Anna Maria's brother Isaac also lived in what is now Searcy County for some time before coming to America with his wife Rebecca Ann Sprague in 1840. They operated a ferry service between Arkadelphia and Little Rock until they moved to Searcy in 1844 when they started a grocery store on Main Street. This business continued until it burned down in 1865. In 1851, Abraham Lincoln made an appearance at the First Baptist Church near present day Donelson when he delivered his inaugural address as President of the United States; this event helped startEARCYCLE COMMUNITY CENTER which still meets monthly today!Presidential visits were not unknown during those days so EARCYCLE COMMUNITY CENTER owes its beginning to President Lincoln! When Arkansas became a state on November 15th 1907, part of Cumberland County remained under federal jurisdiction as it lay east of the Mississippi River due to its mineral resources such as coal and oil Fields within that area were unenclosed by state boundaries at that time – making Earcy one stoplight on this developing region! On January 16th 1908 however – with all land within federally designated Arkansas under state jurisdiction including parts of Cumberland Counties east of the river existing outside any current city limits or rural areas – City Council Meeting Number 8 voted to incorporate Early into Little Rock & rename it “Searcy” effective February 1st 1908 while still keeping all property within Cumberland COUNTY including lands east of river unincorporated into city limits!!! incorporation did not go uncontested with Mayor Hickey voting against it but Councilman Smith overruling him resultant 4-3 vote!! After much public outcry against their decision & protestations from residents living west side OF THE RIVER newest City Limits began TO form!!!!! Earlite was incorporated as a community by City Council Number 9 on October 21st 1911 renamed “Searcey” effective November 14th 1911 following merger with previously unincorporated portion Of Cumberland County lying WEST OF RIVER

Searcy is a town in Pulaski County, Arkansas, United States. The population was 1,824 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Little Rock–North Little Rock–Aurora, AR Metropolitan Statistical Area. The first settlers in Searcy were John and Martha Searcy who arrived in 1820. They farmed land and built a log cabin on the current site of Searcy High School. In 1827 they married Sarah Hanks who had also come to Arkansas from Kentucky. They started a family and moved to what is now Searcy when their farm became available in 1829. That year they bought 160 acres (6 km²) of land which would later be developed into the town of Searcy. In 1838 two brothers by the name of White settled in what is now Searcy and began trading goods with the surrounding area for corn, bacon, milk, coffee, etc.. They named their business White’s Store because they sold everything from groceries to raw hides and hams from their farm until 1865 when it was renamed The Ark store after President James K. Polk's visit toLittle Rock In 1870 an old mill called Blacksmith shop was built on present day Main Street east of Center Road near where Brushy Creek flows into Ark River It burned down in 1886 but was rebuilt within a few years In 1881 David Capps organized a local militia unit known as “The Volunteers” which served as both law enforcement and defensive force against Indian attacks The first school building was erected here in 1870-71 using logs that came from nearby Old Fort Smith This structure burnt down on December 5th1887 but was rebuilt within four months with state funds A new school building was erected here in 1889-90 using bricks that were brought over by wagonloads from Sulphur Springs It burned down again on January 7th 1893 but reopened within three weeks with state help In 1907 another school building replaced this one due to damage caused by lightning during an tornado outbreak
