The Arkansas National Guard was created in 1907 as the first state militia. The unit was originally called the Arkansas Infantry Regiment, but was changed to the Arkansas National Guard in 1911. The unit became an all-Volunteer force in 1917 and served in World War I. In 1922, the National Guard was redesignated as the Arkansas National Militia and continued to serve in World War II as part of the United States Army Forces overseas. After World War II, the National Guard service dwindled throughout much of America due to a lack of volunteers and a move towards peacetime military service. However, when President Ronald Reagan activated theNational Guard for Operation Desert Storm in 1990, it proved to be one of the most iconic moments in American history. Since then, more states have also mobilized their national guard units for patriotic purposes. The Searcy, Arkansas National Guard has a history dating back to 1881. The unit was organized as the First Arkansas Volunteer Infantry Regiment on November 1, 1881. On February 17, 1886, the regiment was redesignated the Eighth Arkansas Volunteer Infantry Regiment and on January 15, 1889 it became Regular Army Company C of the Fourth Cavalry Division of the United States Army. On April 25, 1898, during World War I (1898-1914), Company C was mobilized for service in Europe as part of United States Expeditionary Force No. 11. The company arrived in France on July 3rd and fought at Aisne River Bridge before being sent to Belgium where they fought at Mons and Ypres General Offensive until October 16th when they were relieved by Mexican forces at Tournai. They then returned home via New York City and Buffalo before finally arriving in Searcy on November 13th. In 1921-1922 the regiment's headquarters relocated from Little Rock to Searcy after being burned down in Little Rock on December 22nd of that year. In 1958-1959 Headquarters moved again, this time to Bentonville (Arkansas). On May 5th 1959 activated Company E which had been deactivated two years earlier while stationed at Fort Smith (Arkansas) because of budget cuts within the military during the Eisenhower administration. When Company E reactivated it had 4 officers and 38 enlisted men with 4 M3 Garand rifles each instead of its original M1 rifles due to wartime austerity measures within America's armed forces during World War II era although many units throughout America eventually acquired Garands through various efforts such as exchanging old weapons for new ones or purchasing them from surplus programs set up by various congressmen during peacetime eras).
Searcy is a city in Pulaski County, Arkansas, United States. The population was 10,811 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Little Rock-North Little Rock-Arkansas Metropolitan Statistical Area. The first permanent settler in Searcy was James McGillen and his family who arrived on July 4, 1819 from Maryland. They built a cabin near present day Searcy and began to cultivate land. Their improvements included a mill which they erected in 1825. The dryness of the climate led to their continued reliance on horses for transportation until railroads came along and replaced this means of transportation; however, horse drawn wagons still play an important role today in Searcy's economy. Searcy was incorporated as a town on November 14, 1907. By 1930 it had reached its current population of 10,811 people and with the construction of I-55 it formed one of the most recent urban areas within Pulaski County boundaries. I-55 has brought new development to downtown Searcy as well as other parts of the city including Northside Mall which opened in 2007 and now anchors much of downtown's commercial district; also adjacent are several high school campuses - Garnet High School (opened in 1988), Central High School (opened in 2001) and Perrysburg Senior High School (opened in 2002). In addition to its many businesses there are several restaurants located throughout downtown that offer breakfast or lunch services; these include Gino's Italian Grill & Cafe (), Subway (), Pizza Hut (), Taco Bell ()and Dunkin' Donuts (). TheMississippi River forms a natural boundary between Searcy proper and North Little Rock while Interstate 55 provides access both ways through town limits into neighboring Arkansas counties

On Nov. 15, 1916, President Woodrow Wilson signed the National Guard Bureau Appropriations Bill into law, providing $3 million for the National Guard to be used during World War I. This was followed by the National Guard Act of 1917 which increased this amount to $10 million. The National Guard was finally activated on March 4, 1918 when President Wilson ordered 5 million men and women of all ages to report for duty in support of the war effort.
Searcy, Arkansas is a town located in Pulaski County, Arkansas. The population was 1,895 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Little Rock-North Little Rock-Avery Metropolitan Statistical Area. The first reported mention of Searcy was in 1836 when it was called "Sevier". The name may be derived from the Choctaw word sevier meaning "to lead out." In 1885, Searcy was renamed to honor General John C. Fremont and his role in the Indian War of 1866–1868. In 1865, General James H. Lane moved his family from Helena, Arkansas to Searcy after losing his home there to Indians during the American Civil War (the war's original cause). General Lane had been appointed commander of Union forces in Arkansas by Ulysses S. Grant and he served as such until he died in 1871 at the age of 73 years old. Buffalo Bill Cody came through Searcy on his way back from a western trip and stopped at General Lane's house one day while he was staying in Helena; this event is sometimes considered to be the beginning of Cody's career as a professional cowboy actor/commentator. According to historian Don Freeman, "it has been said that pioneer George Bird Grinnell - who leftArkansas for good some time before [1896] - also stop[ed] hereabouts on his travels up and down this stream". A post office called Sevier opened November 9, 1886, under the name AVILANDIDE because mail delivered there consisted only of invitations to dine with Judge Advocate Edmund Ruffin (of West Point fame). The townspeople were so pleased with Ruffin's service that they decided to keep the name even though terms began receiving mail other than invitations from him starting about 1890...GVILANDIDE then became known simply as EARLY SEVIER after an act by First Congressional District Representative James Meeks which changed all official correspondence within Sevier Township thenceforth From EARL TO EARL'S VILLAGE'. One result of this change may have been that some residents shortened their surnames upon becoming registered with local government records...such changes are generally confirmed through study or examination of marriage contracts and other legal documents filed with probate offices throughout central Arkansas." When early settlers arrived in Searcy they encountered resistance from local Native Americans who claimed ownership over what would later become known as Searcy Lake and surrounding land; these natives fought numerous battles against settler groups over control of these lands between 1836-1849 inclusive. One particular battle resulted in three men being killed: Enoch Stevens (a Choctaw), Solomon Boone (a Pawnee) and John Allenby alias Jack Allenby (an Englishman). After fighting successfully against local Native Americans for many months during winter 1849–1850 severed Snake River Valley between Arkadelphia Mountains & Brazoria Ferry Lake from Cherokee Nation & continued hostilities ensued; consequent Creek nation & white settlements located along both sides now enjoy intermingling cultures more amicably than ever before thanks largely due to efforts exerted by earlier generations living close by!" In 1865 not long after moving into Early Sevier began exporting cornmeal flour to Independence Missouri where it still remains an important agricultural product today
From 1836 to 1868, Searcy was the capital of Arkansas. In 1868, it moved to Little Rock and is now the seat of Central Arkansas Municipal District.
