The name "Searcy" was given to the community by General James Fenton Searcy, who fought in the Mexican-American War and later served as governor of Arkansas. The first post office in Searcy was established on December 12, 1879, and operated until 1907. On July 1, 1907, Searcy became one of the townships of Pulaski County. It remained part of that county until it was separated from Pulaski County and formed its own government on November 3, 1938. On October 13, 1990, Searcy had a tornado outbreak that affected parts of Crossett and Little Rock. More than thirty homes were destroyed or damaged in Crossett alone; damage also occurred to churches and businesses in Little Rock. No injuries were reported during the storm. According to the United States Census Bureau, Searcy has a total area of , all land. As of the census[1] of 2000, there were 1,711 people residing in the town: 753 households out of which 29% had children under the age Of 18 living with them,[2] 41% were married couples living together,[3] 17% had a female householder with no husband present,[4] and 38% were non-families.[5] As for race/ethnicity: 86% white; 4% black or African American; 2% Native American; 0% Asian; 0% Pacific Islander; 2% from other races; 6%, unknown

Searcy, Arkansas is a small town in Pulaski County,Arkansas, United States. The population was 1,715 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Little Rock–North Little Rock–Ardmore Micropolitan Statistical Area. The first settler in Searcy was C.H. Smith who arrived in 1871 and named it after himself, Searcy (a name meaning " advantageous"). The first store built in Searcy was on Main Street and operated by Mr. Pritchard until 1902 when he moved to North Little Rock. In 1907, Mrs. Loring opened her own store on Second Street which continued to be operated by her until 1963 when it closed its doors for good due to a lack of customers or competition from larger stores within the community. In 1910, Mr. Harry Fenton became the manager of the new telephone company that had been organized in Searcy and soon began expanding service to other parts of Pulaski County including Abilene and Van Buren A post office has been located at Searcy since 1903 with Mrs.(later Miss) Loring serving as the first postmaster; she also served as cashier for many years before retiring in 1959 The only building still standing from pioneer days is an old blacksmith shop which stood on Main Street between 1912-1913 Today there are several businesses open in town such as a restaurant/bar called Glasscock's Smokehouse & Grill and a convenience store/gas station called Texaco Supermarket
Searcy was founded in 1811 by Andrew Searcy and his brother, John. The original settlement was located on the Arkansas River at what is now Searcy, about 25 miles north of downtown Little Rock. In 1815, the Searcy family moved to a more permanent location near present-day Bentonville. There they developed a farming and ranching business. In 1868, Andrew's son James W. Searcy bought out his father's interest in the business and renamed it "Searcy-Wright". The company grew rapidly and by 1914 had employed over 100 people. By 1925, the company had merged with another farm equipment manufacturer, Great Western Machinery Company of Bentonville (GWMC), creating one of the largest agricultural businesses in America.
