Searcy, Arkansas is a town in Pulaski County, Arkansas, United States. The population was 1,812 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Little Rock- AR-3 Micropolitan Statistical Area. The town was founded in 1875 by John Searcy and his family as a trading post on the White River. In 1907, it became the county seat of Pulaski County after being moved from nearby Fort Smith. In 1916, Searcy incorporated as a village. In 1969, it consolidated with the adjacent towns of Magnolia and Joplin to form the new city of Searcy. The merger failed because both cities had different business interests and governments. In recent years, Searcy has regained some lost ground and now ranks sixth among all US small towns in terms of population size (behind only West Plains, Junction City, Springfield Township, Harrisonburg Heights/East Harrisonburg Township & North Little Rock). The economy is based largely on agriculture with some manufacturing operations; however there are also several small businesses that provide services such as transportation and electronics retailers. A large portion of the town's infrastructure—roads and bridges—was built during World War II by military engineers working for General Motors Corporation on behalf of the AAACOMO project which aimed to improve highway travel through central Arkansas

The town grew rapidly due to its location on the Arkansas River, which made it an ideal location for a fur trade business. In 1898, the town was renamed Searcy after General James H. Kearny, who fought in the Mexican-American War. The Kearny Museum is now located in Searcy.
