The Arkansas National Guard has been deployed in support of the United States military since World War II. The Guardsmen have served in many different capacities, including infantry, artillery, cavalry and armor. Searcy, Arkansas is a town in Pulaski County, Arkansas, United States. The population was 1,869 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Little Rock–Fayetteville-Springdale, AR Metropolitan Statistical Area. The first settlers in Searcy were Peter and Rebecca Searcy who arrived in 1827. They built a log cabin on the current site of Searcy High School which still stands today. The first post office in Searcy was established in 1831. A courthouse was built in 1834 and remained in use until 1921 when it was replaced by the present courthouse building which is located on Main Street. Searcy began to grow rapidly after the discovery of oil near its location in 1901. In 1906, the Arkansas Railroad Company constructed a line from Springdale to Searcy and also connected with the Missouri Pacific Railroad at Arkadelphia east of Searcy. This allowed for more rapid growth as businesses could be brought into town and production increased for local products such as cotton, bacon, soybeans, flour and gasoline. The population peaked at 2,500 during World War I but declined following World War II due to heavy military involvement throughout Arkansas and economic decline statewide; however this has since reversed with steady growth over recent years achieved through various economic development initiatives such as Job Corps/Adult Education programs/Homeschooling opportunities/Unemployment insurance/Equal Employment Opportunity Commission services etc.; all while maintaining an active community spirit that contributes to its unique character! The town also houses several museums including:the Arkadelphia Museum of History & Art;the Bicknell Folklife Center;the RoyalArkansasMuseum;the Seymour Hersh Jr./Jill Abramson Freedom Trail Museum;and numerous other cultural attractions not limited to just history or art!

Searcy is a town in Pulaski County, Arkansas, United States. The population was 1,868 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Little Rock–Bentonville, AR-MO Metropolitan Statistical Area. The town was named after General James Ewell Searcy who fought in the Mexican-American War and also in the Arkansas Expedition against Kit Carson. He also donated land to the town for its foundation. The first post office in Searcy was established on December 12, 1872 by Jno. Bremen (1832-1907). The name of the first postmaster was changed to Searcy on November 17, 1875 by FayetteVILLE voters due to Locust Grove's being renamed Searcy two days earlier. Searcy had a school for white students until 1896 when it became a black school under Act No. 5 of 1896 which provided for colored schools within white districts statewide; however, no such schools were ever built in Searcy. In 1907 a new high school building was constructed and this served as both the original town hall and Courthouse until 1978 when it burned down and replaced with a shopping mall that now occupies much of downtown area occupied by old city hall which sat across from what is now First Baptist Church before it burned down again in 2002 leading to plans for redevelopment including tearing down most of old city hall while leaving only enough structure remaining to serve as courthouse annex/lawyers' office/firehouse/community center with additional retail space on upper levels facing east onto future parkland currently undeveloped that would house an arena or other large sports arena if development proceeds as planned In 2006 local resident Lamar Smith secured passage of Amendment One through referendum which repealed all laws passed since Reconstruction that discriminated against Arkansans based their race or ethnicity including Measure 10 (2006), which prohibited any change or expansion of state highway 6 bordering Searcy except along existing county lines thereby effectively dividing those portions of Searcy between Pulaski and Benton counties making it possible for developers interested in developing land contiguous with Butte Road into effect without fear thereof litigation from residents who desired preservation
