The Rogers, Arkansas Army National Guard unit has deployed in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom twice since 2003. The first deployment was in March 2003 when the unit participated in a training exercise with the Kuwaiti military. The second deployment was in December 2004 when the regiment mobilized for Operation New Dawn which involved flying into Iraq to provide humanitarian aid. Since its mobilization, the regiment has served three tours of duty in Iraq and two deployments to Kuwait. During its deployments, the regiment has received numerous awards and accolades from both internal and external sources. In October 2007, the regiment was awarded an honorable mention by United States General David Petraeus for their bravery during operations Iraqi Freedom and New Dawn. In addition, members of the Rogers ARNG were also honored with a Presidential Unit Citation for their heroism during Desert Storm. Additionally, members of the Regiment have been recipients of several commendations from international organizations such as NATO and Special Forces Command Europe. The Rogers ARNG has faced many challenges while deploying throughout its history including being placed on call out multiple times due to natural disasters such as hurricanes Katrina or Rita; however, all members have persevered through these events and remain dedicated to their service to their countrymen.
