The Arkansas Army National Guard is one of the largest and most powerful military organizations in the United States. The unit has fought in many wars, both World War I and World War II. The guard also provides law enforcement and support services to the local community. The Arkansas National Guard was founded on July 1, 1873, when the state of Arkansas supplemented its militia by taking advantage of a provision in the Union Pacific Railroad Constitution that granted national guard status to any state that contributed troops to help protect railroad property. In 1907, the Arkansas National Guard became a part of the triangular organization known as Commandos-in-the-Fields (CIF), which was designed to coordinate all field artillery units across all U.S. armies during World War I. In 1916, CIF evolved into Delta Company, 1st ARNG; this battalion became Omega Company (ARNG) on January 1st, 1917; it was concurrently redesignated as 2nd Battalion (ARNG) on November 15th,. 2nd Battalion served with distinction in World War I before being deployed overseas in 1918; upon their return home they were consolidated with 3rd Battalion (ARNG) at Fort Smith under command of Colonel John Fenton until his death on October 14th 1921. During World War II 2nd Battalion mobilized for service from September 1942 until May 1945; however due to armistice negotiations they did not enter combat until May 1945 when they joined 4th Infantry Division at Camp Forrest Tennessee after crossing through French Indochina and operating against Japanese forces throughout Southeast Asia from December 1944 until February 1945 inclusive*. In 1946 2nd Battalion reverted back to its original name while 3rd Battalion continued serving as an inactive reserve unit until 1952 when it converted into Headquarters & Headquarters Troop (HHT)organic 6th Brigade* (*2 battalions reorganized on August 29th 1957). * HQ&HQ Troop organic 6th Brigade conversion date is unknown

Mountain Home is a town in Pulaski County, Arkansas, United States. The population was 1,852 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Little Rock–North Little Rock–Amarillo Metropolitan Statistical Area. Mountain Home was founded in 1887 by homesteaders from Kentucky and Tennessee. It was named for nearby Mount Holly (a 7,000-foot peak). The first post office in Mountain Home opened in 1888. In 1898, the town had a population of 350 and an irrigation system using artesian wells was installed. By 1920, the population hadgrown to 2,500 and the town built its first fire station that year. That same year, it also became a city with incorporation under state law. In 1960, Mountain Home established itself as an independent municipality through an act of the Arkansas General Assembly which granted city status to all towns within Pulaski County with over 10,000 inhabitants on petition from residents who approved of their decision. In 1984, Mountain Home annexed section 8 of Pine Bluff to its municipal boundaries making it one logical step towards becoming a full-fledged city with more power over its own affairs including zoning and economic development control; this annexation attracted much attention due to fears that such a move would encourage suburban sprawl into rural areas around schools located adjacent to cities like Pine Bluff
